Another one of Biden’s I-am-not-Trump campaign promises deliciously bites the dust. In desperation to salvage votes in the upcoming mid-term elections, or maybe it is sheer desperation over the border crisis itself, the Biden administration has now quietly approved continuing the construction of Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall near Yuma, Arizona.

But no matter how the Biden administration may try to spin it – “[It] will better protect migrants who can get hurt slipping down a slope or drown walking through a low section of the Colorado River” – or may try take credit for completing the wall, Trump is already one step ahead of them.

There is a metal plaque on the existing wall at Yuma, Arizona, affirming Trump’s role in securing the wall. Most of Biden’s campaign promises have now crumbled. When Trump was fighting to secure the funding for the wall, Biden called him racist and xenophobic. He claimed that building the wall was divorced from reality, wouldn’t stop the flow of illegal narcotics or human trafficking, and wouldn’t stem the numbers of the “undocumented.” His campaign for the Presidency in 2020 succinctly promised “Not another foot” [i.e., foot, as in a length of measurement], and all construction was halted when Biden took office in January 2021. But, like everything Biden says and does, these words have not aged well.
