Our face of the day PM Jacinda Ardern on Monday said that:
“the Government was not looking at allowing greengrocers to reopen to provide extra competition.” because “Unfortunately that would undermine what we’re trying to do, which is limit the public’s contact with workers and each other,”
But she said on Sunday;
“We are aware of the issue around halal… we have had a team looking at ways that we can ensure the ongoing access to halal, while still maintaining our goal of having as few people who are in contact with one another through being in the workforce as possible,”
Soooo no fresh fruit and veges from greengrocers because the government’s goal is to limit the public’s contact with workers and each other but… the rules don’t apply to Halal butchers.
Clearly COVID-19 doesn’t affect Muslims. Why else would the PM be looking to label their butcheries essential and open the Muslim community up to all that additional risk but protect all non-Muslims by shutting down all non-Muslim butchers?
