The BFD Vigilante of the Day

The BFD. Rawiri Waititi

Table of Contents

Today’s Vigilante of the day, Rawiri Waititi has reacted to our PM’s weak as dishwater COVID-19 response by taking the law into his own hands and illegally enforcing what he describes as border controls in an attempt to protect his community. He and his community will be enforcing their areas’ “borders” with manned border control in two places leading into and out of their local community.

Because Rawiri is Maori I doubt that any attempt will be made by the government or police to intervene in this vigilante action. However, you can only imagine what would happen if a ‘pale stale male’ did the same to protect his local community using manned ‘border control’ to do it.

Will these border crossings be manned by armed men? It is a given that they will be using intimidation even if they do not have weapons to prevent people from travelling into their community as they do not have any legal authority to block people’s access.

This is what happens when there is no strong leadership from the government. The vacuum gets filled by vigilantes like Mr Waititi. Jacinda Ardern is still asking people to do the right thing whereas Mr Waititi is insisting.

Mr Waititi may well have the last laugh as tough ‘border controls’ may well protect his community much better than the requests issued by our prime minister.
