David Seymour’s current position as deputy prime minister and leader of ACT does, indeed, echo those times. ACT, being born from Douglas’s ideology, still champions small government, deregulation and individual responsibility – ideas that can sound appealing in theory but, as history has shown, may come with significant social cost if not tempered by pragmatism and compassion.

Hard right is as damaging to one’s country's future as the hard left.
