Tamara Lich and Chris Barber were found guilty of mischief in organising the 2022 Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa. The Crown want these two imprisoned and they seek a forfeiture order to seize and destroy Barber’s truck known as “Big Red”. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for 23–25 July 2025. The final verdict is likely in August.

In New Zealand, an unhealthy coalition of state actors unified over the Covid-19 fiasco. An authoritarian government, a tyrannical leader, a captured health system, a thuggish police organisation and pompous councils, such as the medical, educational and midwifery ones, have hounded Kiwis who would not follow their Covid-19 orders for years. These were people who just wanted the matter of informed consent to be honoured. People have been arrested, others hauled before boards and councils, persecuted and censored, had private online communications revealed, and been fined and stripped of careers, future livelihoods and income sources.

Witnesses involved with some of these ongoing witch hunts report being shocked at the arrogance, vindictiveness and the complete shutting down of freedom of speech. Justice and democracy are ignored.

In Canada, Justin Trudeau, another tyrannical prime minister, led the way in dishing out punishment on his detractors, now known as the truckers. The truckers were primarily opposing Covid-19 vaccine mandates for cross-border truck drivers, introduced by the Canadian Government in Jan 2022. These mandates required unvaccinated truckers to quarantine upon re-entering Canada from the US, disrupting their livelihoods. The protest began as a trucker movement, but grew to encompass broader grievances against public health measures, including mask-wearing mandates, lockdowns and vaccine passports, which many felt infringed on personal freedoms.

An excerpt from the article reads:

[…] Lich and Barber were initially arrested on February 17, 2022, meaning their legal battle has lasted longer than three years.

Despite the peaceful nature of the Freedom Convoy, the then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government invoked the Emergencies Act to clear out protesters, an action a federal judge has since said was “not justified.” During the clear out, an elderly lady was
trampled by a police horse and many who donated to the cause had their bank accounts frozen.

The actions taken by the Trudeau government were publicly supported by Mark Carney
. (Emphasis added.)

Grok says of Carney’s position:

There is no definitive evidence of that Mark Carney explicitly supported the imprisonment of the trucker organizers involved; however, posts on X and some web sources suggest Carney took a strong stance against the protests . […]

In a 2022 Globe and Mail opinion piece, Carney described the Freedom Convoy protests as “sedition” and called for authorities to “take every step within the law to identify and thoroughly punish” those involved, including “following the money” to choke off financial support. He argued that the protests, which disrupted Ottawa and key border crossings, were an “occupation” that threatened public order. These statements were made a week before the Canadian government, under then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, invoked the Emergencies Act to address the protests, including freezing bank accounts of organizers and supporters.

Lich and Barber report their private legal defence expenses in the trial, which spanned 45 days over 31 months, approached one million dollars. Their supporters argue the trial was malicious lawfare; unjust, a government targeting dissenters and politically motivated. Supporters from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) claim the charges are disproportionate.

Will Freedom Fighter influencers Lich and Barber be imprisoned? The Crown is seeking a significant prison sentence so it is likely they will face some sort of imprisonment, presumably to deter others.
