Due to an unexpected business trip to London, I missed the last round of voting, but here are the results of today’s vote. The trip to London was awful, 40c+ and resultingly horrible, the UK just can’t cope with odd weather.
Yesterday’s round is as follows and resulted in Tom Tugendhat dropping out.

The final vote is tomorrow and then the final two travel the country visiting conservative party branches and in two weeks’ time the membership casts its votes.
Rishi Sunak has been consistent in his vote support but isn’t drawing away. It is even possible that Badenoch’s support could split between Mordaunt and Truss as that would reflect the mood of the membership, who dislike Sunak.
Badenoch is definitely one for the future after an impressive showing. She was probably the most right-wing of the candidates and her support is wary of Sunak. The latest money being placed with the bookies seems to favour Truss pulling ahead of Mordaunt tomorrow and then facing off against Sunak.
The process has been marked by the unusual level of vitriol being thrown around, with Sunak characterised by being slimy and shifty, Mordaunt low attention span and bone idle, and Truss as being as mad as a hatter and too left-leaning, although she is prepared to be pragmatic about her principles!
Should be a fun day tomorrow when we finally see where the minor candidates’ support finishes up. That will give a clue to potential cabinet positions. One thing that has happened is it has increased Badenoch’s public profile and has shown the public that Conservatism still exists.
