The Left Go the Bash in Vic

It must be a Monday.

For all the Labor government’s blatherskite about the ‘manosphere’, the ‘far-right’ and ‘keeping women safe’, it’s notable that almost all of the political violence and harassment of women comes from the left and their fellow-travellers.

Almost all of the terror attacks and thwarted plots of the past quarter-century can be sheeted home to Islam and the left. Far-left radicals Socialist Alternative organised and led the ‘schools’ protests that featured repeated chants to kill Pauline Hanson. MP Helen Haines was almost murdered by a far-left, anti-Israel, environmentalist extremist. The worst terror attack in Australian history was perpetrated by ‘pro-Palestine’ activists.

It goes on. And on. Conservative MP Nicolle Flint was stalked, harassed and abused for months by members of a far-left activist group founded with seed money from former Labor leader Bill Shorten. Conservative MP Moira Deeming was near-lynched by far-left extremists when she spoke alongside Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull in Melbourne. PM Anthony Albanese’s closest political allies are the infamous ‘Mean Girls’ who bullied one of their own female MPs to an early grave.

At the last Victorian election, leftists attacked people putting up election posters for the conservative-ish Liberal Party. It’s happening again.

The husband of a Victorian Liberal Party candidate has allegedly been assaulted during a confrontation over election signs.

The party said the husband of Amanda Dow – the candidate for the seat of Yan Yean in Melbourne’s outer north – was involved in an incident in Mernda on Sunday afternoon.

“We understand Ms Dow’s husband approached a member of the public who was removing Liberal Party campaign signage and was allegedly assaulted,” it said in a statement.

The confrontation ended with the candidate’s partner requiring immediate medical attention for facial injuries, whilst the alleged assailant found himself charged with criminal damage, unlawful assault and recklessly causing injury.

Naturally, the alleged brute was promptly handed bail, leaving him free to stroll the streets until his Heidelberg Magistrates Court appointment next February. After all, this is Victoria, where the legal fraternity dispenses bail to violent thugs with all the gravity of an automated ticket dispenser at a suburban car park.

The assault did not occur in an ideological vacuum. It is merely the latest dispatch from the cultural battlefront of Melbourne’s crumbling civic sanity. As the broader public is well aware.

Far-left extremists have also targeted One Nation events in Melbourne and called for the death of Pauline Hanson, carried out a series of violent attacks on patriotic protesters at rallies, firebombed a defence manufacturer, and set off a bomb at the Land Forces expo.

Yet whenever the legacy media or Canberra’s hand-wringing classes gather to discuss ‘extremism’, they studiously ignore the Marxist shock-troops violently tearing up civil society. Instead, they manufacture endless moral panics about hypothetical teenage keyboard warriors or ordinary working families who refuse to genuflect before state-sanctioned woke dogma.

When a conservative candidate puts forward her name in a democratic election, her family members are treated as open targets by political zealots whose intolerance of dissent is absolute. Ms Dow, a teacher and small-business proprietor seeking to unseat Labor incumbent Lauren Kathage in the marginal northern fringes, merely discovered what happens when you challenge the ruling regime’s entitlement to power.

Naturally, the newly minted Labor Premier, Ben Carroll, stepped up to the microphones to utter the requisite platitudes about civility and voter safety. But words are exceptionally cheap when your own political milieu has spent years coddling, excusing and quietly cheering on the activist class as they vandalise property, menace parliamentarians and terrorise ordinary citizens.

The political establishment’s sheer panic is palpable. With Labor trailing the coalition 55–45 on a two-party preferred basis ahead of next month’s poll and primary votes haemorrhaging toward the coalition and a surging One Nation, the left’s traditional monopoly on Victoria’s machinery of power is facing an existential reckoning. Unable to defend a decade of economic ruin, eye-watering debt and social decay on the merits, the foot-soldiers of the left have reverted to their historical default: silencing their opponents by brute force.

In the People’s Republic of Victoria, the thugs will continue tearing down signs, smashing faces and receiving prompt bail, while the political class looks politely the other way.

English Freedom Has Died

I will in future be following the advice given by many: do not speak to police. The modern British police are not to be trusted, and it says a lot about the state of our country when mistrust of the police has become a mainstream opinion held by perfectly ordinary, law-abiding people.
