The Maori Party Wants Apartheid in NZ

I have just read the various election policies of the Maori Party. In all areas, they want a separate system in place for Maori funded by taxpayers of course. Their idea appears to focus on the fact that if they have a system whereby Maori are exempt from the rules of mainstream New Zealand they will be better off. So in education, justice, housing, the arts, sport, health, incomes and others, Maori should be treated separately. Having obtained all they need via the taxpayer they then want the taxpayer to fund their own Parliament to oversee this largesse they’ve managed to confiscate.

Confiscate is a good word, a word they understand and rightly so. We “colonists” understand it as well and have spent several decades confessing our sins by paying out billions for our crimes. This is of little consequence to those in the higher echelons of the Maori Party. Everything and everyone is still against them. The entitled colonials are streets ahead because everything in the system favours them. Jobs, wages, healthcare, education, the justice system, the whole shebang is loaded against the indigenous population.

In their world, this is the reason for their health problems, their child abuse statistics, their incarceration statistics, their low education achievement and all the other problems that beset them. Hardly ever, in all my 74 years, have I heard those who are in a position to speak take any responsibility for the horrendous situation they say they are in. It’s always the system or somebody else that’s to blame. And always the answer to their woes is more money.

They all need to individually stand in front of a mirror and take a long hard look at themselves, personally and as a representative of their race. They need to reflect on why things in their families have not improved despite billions being thrown at their problems. They need to think about how different things might be if they moved on from their obsession with colonisation. They need, more than anything, to think about how some personal responsibility might be required to improve their lot.

Going through life blaming everything and everyone but yourself is not an answer. Neither is money and neither is a separate system for your people. Charter schools dispelled that notion. Your children were doing very well in that environment but your friends in Labour cancelled them at the behest of your other friends, the teacher’s unions. I don’t see any mention of charter schools in your education manifesto. What those schools proved is that your children don’t need a separate system to succeed.

The Maori economy is now worth around $50 billion and is growing faster than the rest of the economy. Much of this was built on taxpayer reparations paid out on treaty claims. This is income generated by Maori for Maori. Again, this is proof Maori can succeed in the current environment. Therefore, I suggest that if you want a system of separatism that’s where you go to obtain your finance. Personally, I think you’re on the wrong road.

It’s more than past the time that, instead of more money and organisations, you chose to investigate the root causes of your social ills. A lot of the problems start in the home. Proper parenting including how to discipline would be a good start. This doesn’t just apply to Maori and that is why I think Plunket should be properly funded by the Government so that regular weekly home visits are made from birth till the child is two years old. Many problems would be picked up by the nurses early on. Again this does not require a separate organisation. All mothers should be able to interact with a Plunket nurse.

You need to look closely at the real reasons why your child abuse and incarceration figures are so high. Frankly, blaming the system, the organisations involved and the people working in them is a cop out. If we all behaved in an irresponsible way all races would have high figures of child abuse and incarceration. Personal responsibility is what is required.

To quote Winston Churchill- The price of greatness is RESPONSIBILITY!
