One of the enduring “bogey men” for many evangelical Christians is “the mark of the beast”.  What it means, exactly, is shrouded in mystery and obscurity but that does not matter to those who have assigned to it all manner of things throughout history.

And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark— the name of the beast or the number of its name. Here is a call for wisdom: Let the one who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and that number is 666.…

Well, folks, we have a new contender!  Facebook’s new Libra cryptocurrency.

Whoa!  If Facebook does not like you or has banned you, you may be locked out of the brave new Facebook currency world.

Obviously, anyone who gave Facebook, with their privacy track record, any access to their finances in any way shape or form would be a first class idiot; but I digress.

Obviously, some people are more equal than others in the brave new world of Facebook’s Libra currency.

Only those with approved ‘correct’ thinking will be allowed the mark of the beast to buy and sell.

You heard it here first, people; beware the beast.
