There are some government reports that should come with a Bart Simpson-style warning: Whatever this report says, do the opposite. One such is the “Multicultural Framework Review”, released last week by the Albanese government.
Instead of admitting what we all know, that multiculturalism is a failed, bankrupt, ideology that has fatally weakened the West and emboldened the dregs of civilisation, the report digs in even deeper. Worse, it conspicuously neglects to mention the most egregious outcome of multiculturalism in decades.
A once-in-50-year review of multiculturalism commissioned by Labor has “put the Jewish community at risk” through its failure to address rising anti-Semitism and a “breakdown” in the nation’s social cohesion, it has been claimed.
President of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, Daniel Aghion, said the Multicultural Framework Review released on Wednesday was an “opportunity to address these issues, but the opportunity has been missed”.
Because, one can’t help but suspect, multiculturalism is doing exactly what it’s intended to: undercut the pillars of an open society in order to empower vicious tribalism.
“It beggars belief that the report makes no mention of the breakdown in multiculturalism and social cohesion that we are currently experiencing, and does not even mention the word anti-Semitism,” he said. “It has often been noted that anti-Semitism is the oldest and most adaptable form of hatred. Failing to acknowledge and address its resurgence in Australia today not only puts the Jewish community at risk, but also undermines any effort to acknowledge and address the unprecedented challenges facing Australia.”
This is where Aghion misses the essential point: multiculturalism hasn’t “broken down”, it’s neared its apotheosis. Empowering tribal hatred by pretending that violently intolerant cultures are somehow the equal – superior, even – of the liberal, democratic West.
If you have any doubt over just what multiculturalism is achieving, then take note of who is just chuffed with the report:
The president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, Rateb Jneid […] welcomed the multicultural review framework.
So, what exactly does the report recommend?
The review put an overhaul of the citizenship test on the table, suggesting consideration be given to providing the test in languages other than English, while also proposing the ABC be given an official multicultural advisory role.
In other words, encourage even less integration into mainstream Australia and more ethnoreligious tribalism.
As for giving the ABC an “official multicultural advisory role”… you might as well hand the pigs the key to the slops trough.
