One of the interesting things concerning the rise to power of the cult of Ardern is the effect in emboldening the neo-Marxists among us to push their failed ideology harder, particularly in the academic/educational ranks.
It’s been seen often and commented likewise here many times, but I thought it may interest you all to see a little display, writ large, of the contempt in our ivory towers for the sanity and surety of neo-liberal economics and politics. They are truly despised among the academic corral of wannabe communists and show-pony revolutionaries. Dripping in collectivism and openly arguing for “moral democracy” (theirs – collectivism, neo-Marxism) against “market democracy” (individualism; apparently to blame for sins many-fold) and the role of teachers in shaping the thoughts of our young:
“Likewise conditions need to strengthen teachers in their capacities to understand and question what forms of knowledge count; to think and act critically about individuals, groups and society; and to produce locally relevant curricula. If education performs a democratic role in shaping society, then it cannot simply be used to impart knowledge and beliefs but needs to offer opportunities to develop attitudes, skills and dispositions to formulate and achieve collective ends. At a national level, policy needs to abolish structures that perpetuate hierarchical divisions and inequalities. In conclusion, democratic values are foundational to a response to the problems and inequities that have emerged from a system that relies extensively on neoliberal ideology”
Linda Mitchell
So what? I hear you say; the young should debate these ideas, but whether the concepts should be thrust upon them under the guise of supposedly apolitical classroom leadership, under what circumstances, and at what age should youngsters be exposed to overt politicisation by members of the teaching community?
Ladies, gentlemen, in-betweens: I hope you are as horrified as I am: that quote, excerpt, is from a guide to pre-school ‘education’…
