The Rose Tinted Glasses of the Left

Those of us on the right might complain about the current administration, but who would risk the appalling and frightening alternative that exists on the left?

This article, of course, is coming from a right perspective. Those on the left will say I am writing through the tinted glasses of the right. They are as much entitled to their viewpoint as we are to ours. In saying that one has to ask – do those glasses provide a different perspective and, if so, how? Yes they do and largely the views of the right are closer to reality than those of the left.

It’s their ideology that lets the left down. Ordinary voters can see through their playbook, which nowadays is pretty much at variance with normal-thinking people who want a stable and cohesive society. An ideology which has infiltrated government departments including the education system and parts of the health system.

Despite their ever mounting and frequent losses they are too intransigent in their ideals to shift their focus. In the workplace they are fixated on DEI and LGBTQI+ to determine appointments and promotions rather than ability. In the USA, this has recently been uncovered in the Department of National Intelligence in America, where staff under the previous administration were told to spend half a day every day on matters pertaining to DEI to assist with their promotional prospects. That has been scrapped along with its DEI department, saving the American taxpayer $150 million.

This sort of nonsense is an anathema to the average right-minded person. They don’t want their taxpayer dollars frittered away on things that do nothing to enhance productivity in the workplace. Those on the left who believe in this dogma are either blind to the damage they are doing to themselves or they simply don’t understand. Their obsession with raising taxes, which they think is how to grow the economy, also puts them offside with voters, as Labour in the UK is finding.

Under a left-wing government, those working in government departments feel enabled to weaponise themselves against those on the right and use mechanisms at their disposal to do so. Under a right-wing government they deliberately try to stymie the implementation of policies the administration wants to enact. It is exactly actions like these that saw the Democrats thrown out of office.

The media never talks of the ‘far left’ but there are constant references to the ‘far right’. There is of course, a far left that is threatening to dominate the Democratic Party in America. One of its members, Ilhan Omar, a representative from Minnesota, has outlined the Democratic plan if they regain control of Congress next year. It has nothing to do with helping the American people but everything to do with going after Donald Trump.

According to Omar, Democrats would “be holding nonstop oversight hearings about what the Trump administration is doing, carrying out investigations into the corruption, the abuses of power and illegal actions”. Of course they never did any of that did they? They think accusing the opposition of doing the very things they did is the path back to power. They think this sort of nonsense will endear them to the American people. It beggars belief that they could be that stupid. The American people didn’t fall for it last time and they won’t fall for it next time.

There is a far left that exists in this country in the form of the Greens and the Māori Party both of which persist with policies that the majority of voters don’t agree with. The Greens suggest we defund the police and close prisons. The Māori Party lean towards wielding the broad brush of apartheid. With coalition being the only option for Labour to win the Treasury benches, their chances with this lot look very grim.

The only elections currently being won are on about a third of the vote. Voters don’t want their policies that only serve to hurt the majority of society, including the working class: the very people they are supposed to represent. As we all know, the left ditched their core vote years ago. Their tinted glasses are keeping them so far removed from reality that their chances of winning an election on a majority vote are pretty much dead in the water.

Those of us on the right might complain about the current administration, but who would risk the appalling and frightening alternative that exists on the left?

You would have to be one sandwich short of a picnic to do that. The left are their own worst enemies and while they continue to wear their rose-tinted glasses they will fail to see it.
