As the JAMs, later to become more famous as the KLF, once asked: What the Fuck is Going On? How, in just a few years, did antisemitism become so mainstream in Australia? So mainstream, the antisemites are barely even bothering to hide behind the blatantly obvious figleaf of ‘anti-Zionism’ any more.
So mainstream that virulently antisemitic ‘academics’ and Yartz luvvies are openly calling the shots in the ‘cultural’ industries. Where taxpayer-funded activists can bellow violent incitement against Jews, without the least consequence (while police will swoop to arrest Jews for the heinous crime of ‘provoking’ violent antisemites).
What the fuck is going on?
A collaborative Jewish-Greek choral concert to raise money for Bondi Beach massacre victims’ families has been cancelled due to vehement political opposition by some choir members to Jewish participation in the event.
A more principled stand would have been to sack every antisemitic chorister.
But that would have not just required a shred of courage and decency: it would have slashed their ranks.
Ironically titled Concert for Hope and Unity, the Australian Hellenic Choir was to join forces with the Sydney Jewish Choral Society in conjunction with a major Australian choir for a rousing two-hour performance at the Sydney Town Hall on June 28.
But at a vote taken at a meeting last Monday ahead of rehearsals, more than half of the Hellenic choir “politically objected’’ to performing with a Jewish choir at the Town Hall concert, with others fearing for their personal safety, citing a potential attack.
Let that sink in: more than half simply couldn’t tolerate singing alongside Jews. Others were so gutlessly afraid of Islamic fanatics that they chickened out.
What an indelible stain on their reputation. Especially when their website brags, they are “creating connections within the Greek communities and between the diverse multicultural communities in Australia and beyond”. All except for those filthy Joos, of chorus.
Strip away every cent of taxpayer funding this rabble of Jew-haters pockets: taxpayer funding they almost certainly trouser, although that’s only educated guessing. Because, try as you might, you won’t find an annual report or audited financial statements on their sleek website, Facebook page or anywhere else in the public domain. No ACNC filings with detailed income and expenditure: because, unlike larger registered charities, this outfit isn’t required to publish glossy reports for donors and taxpayers to scrutinise.
So much for basic financial openness for a group that solicits donations, ticket sales, government grants and community support. Even small incorporated associations have treasurers and AGMs. Their website currently lists Dimitri Emmanouilidis as treasurer and Theo Premetis as accountant. Yet the punters who buy tickets or drop coins in the collection plate get zip in return.
This isn’t unique to the choir. Countless ethnic and community groups operate on a shoestring with minimal disclosure. But in an era of skyrocketing living costs, energy poverty and strained community trust, punters are right to ask: where does the money go? Especially the $15,000 of NSW taxpayers’ already allocated to an event cancelled by the Greek chorus of Jew-hating.
Australian Hellenic Choir president James Tsolakis, 67, said […] “Every cent was to be dispersed to a charity to support the families of the victims of the Bondi terror attack,” he said.
Was? Where is it going, now? Hopefully back to the NSW taxpayer who has every right not to want to fund an event for antisemites.
Mr Tsolakis, of Greek heritage, was alarmed by the vociferous objections, saying: “There’s a bit of antisemitism in the Greek community; I didn’t realise the extent of it.”
I hear you there, pal. The realisation that antisemitism is so widespread on the left of Australian society has been a gut-punch to all decent Australians.
Still, there’s one upside to the antisemitic scumbags outing themselves: we know who they are, now. If there’s a Nazi wasp in the room, I want to know where it is.
The only problem is that we’re run by governments who are too gutless – or compromised – to squash it.
