They Knew What She Is, All Along

Academics knowingly threw taxpayer’s money at a hateful bigot.

In the US, the Department of War has issued a directive that it will stop sending active officers to study at several elite Ivy League universities. These include Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, MIT, Brown, Yale – the rogues’ gallery of uber-woke institutions that notably coddled months of violent anti-Semitic ‘protests’. As Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reasons, these institutions have betrayed the social licence that justified their receipt of taxpayer’s money. “For decades, the Ivy League and similar institutions have gorged themselves on a trust fund of American taxpayer dollars, only to become factories of anti-American resentment and military disdain,” Hegseth said.

He ought to see what Australia’s universities have degenerated into. Like Germany’s universities in the 1930s, academics and students have enthusiastically embraced violent anti-Semitism, along with a host of other anti-Western, anti-Australian ideologies, including demanding to dismantle the ‘illegal’ Australian ‘colony’.

Why are we still funding this?

Especially when the Long March left have so thoroughly white-anted the university sector, root and branch, that the rot goes all the way through.

Case in point, the fact that senior academics continued to shower taxpayer money on what the knew was vicious activism, not ‘research’.

Red flags were raised by an Australian Research Council assessor about the activism of anti-Israel academic Randa Abdel-Fattah before the ARC awarded her an $889,000 taxpayer grant.

Abdel-Fattah, as Good Oil readers may recall, is the anti-Semitic darling of the knuckle-dragging anti-Semitic Australian left. When she was rightly removed from a prestigious ‘writer’s festival’ program, the luvvies went into literally collective meltdown. All because she was asked not to be anti-Semitic, just for once.

Even Abdel-Fattah’s own boss, Macquarie University vice-chancellor Bruce Dowton, conceded that she had made anti-Semitic statements, but weaselled out of sacking her, claiming that “the term was not well-defined in law”, which is a load of bollocks.

Abdel-Fattah has publicly called for the destruction of Israel. The very day after October 7, she changed her online profile picture to a Hamas terrorist carrying out the massacre. She was also filmed leading kindergarten children in a chant of “intifada” (violence against Jews)”.

As it turns out, on the taxpayer dollar.

The Australian revealed on Friday that taxpayers funded a protest in which Dr Abdel-Fattah led children’s chants of “intifada’’, after she told her boss that her reflections on the protest “are within the parameters of my research practice and project’’.

The anti-Israel activist – who changed her Facebook cover photo to the image of a Palestinian parachutist the day after Hamas terrorists massacred Israelis at a music festival on October 7, 2023 – is a prolific author of books, as well as social media diatribes against Zionism and Israel.

This, as no one can seriously deny any more, is open code for ‘Jews’.

The most damning thing, though, is that senior academics were perfectly well aware of just what they were handing over fists of taxpayer money to – and went and did it, anyway.

The Macquarie University report reveals an ARC assessor had raised red flags about her activism, before a $889,000 grant was given for her research project into Arab/Muslim social movements in Australia since the 1970s.

The assessor singled out Dr Abdel-Fattah’s use of the terms “white heroics’’ and “moderate activists’’, warning that “without adequate introspection, it will arguably lead to predetermined framing of the research subjects and analysis’’.

Or, stripped of academic waffle: she’s a bigoted extremist.

And, apparently, unusually ignorant, even for a modern ‘academic’.

“Another significant issue for the proposed research is the failure, as a sociology scholar, to delve anywhere near adequately with the very significant body of sociological research on, with and by Australian Muslim scholars about lived experience, citizenship and resistance and activism,’’ Assessor B wrote. “Even if critical of this work, it has to be considered and engaged with […]

Assessor B also noted Dr Abdel-Fattah’s “lack of track record with social movement theory’’.

And yet, still they handed over the cash.

Only to panic and pull it, when it all went tits-up.

Despite the concerns raised, the ARC approved the five-year research project to start in 2023 – only to freeze it two years later when the Australian revealed Dr Abdel-Fattah had boasted at a conference of “bending the rules’’, and declared she would refuse to work with any academics who refused to denounce Israel’s war in Gaza because they were “deficient human beings’’.

Yet, as soon as they thought no one was paying attention, they went right back to shovelling cash at extremist bigots.

Macquarie University’s investigation cleared Dr Abdel-Fattah and the ARC reinstated her grant in December last year.

Just bulldoze the universities. They’re beyond redemption.
