They Really Think We’re That Stupid Pt 2

Police want us to believe a One Nation volunteer was bashed for no real reason.

To paraphrase George Orwell, some things are such obviously stupid lies that only the taxpayer-funded class could utter them. Australians have had their intelligence collectively spat upon this week with two particularly egregious examples. First, the Australian Human Rights Commission finger-wagged us not to believe our lyin’ eyes: the ‘manosphere’, we’re supposed to believe, is a greater terror threat than, y’know, the people actually doing all the terrorism. Ignore the inevitable ‘religious phrases’ shouted by the terrorists, it’s nothing to do with religion, say the taxpayer-funded smugsters.

The police are no better: participation award enthusiast, Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett, lied to our faces that two Islamic fanatics with an ISIS flag who murdered 15 Jewish Australians at a Jewish religious festival were “not religiously motivated”. But if Barrett treats our intelligence with contempt, it’s nothing on Mike Bush’s mob in Victoria.

The assault of a One Nation volunteer on Victoria’s Surf Coast is not being treated by police as politically motivated.

“Detectives are not treating the incident as politically motivated,” a Victoria Police statement said today.

I mean, sure: just ignore that the Kiwis on a family outing were tearing down One Nation signage at the victim’s home. And that this is just the latest in an escalating series of incidents targeting One Nation volunteers and candidates.

The bare facts are not complicated. On Sunday evening, in the Surf Coast town of Torquay, a 60-year-old One Nation volunteer was savaged on his own property with a blunt weapon, knocked unconscious and hospitalised with a brain bleed. Two men were arrested shortly afterwards: a 37-year-old from Hampton Park, more than 100km away on the fringes of Melbourne, charged with intentionally causing injury and assorted assault-related offences, and a lad of 14, who was let off with a caution. On the party’s account, the assault began when the pair were spotted dismantling One Nation corflutes from the front yard, and the victim, a man who had been feeding birds on his property, went out to investigate.

Police today also clarified the victim had been assaulted with ‘a blunt weapon’, not a baseball bat as previously reported.

Note that even the weapon required correcting downwards. Fine. Victoria Police are doing their best with the facts available to them, which makes it all the more remarkable that, having arrested the two offenders and spoken to them, they have arrived at the confident conclusion that there was nothing political about it.

Police revealed today they had dealt with the 37-year-old several hours prior to the alleged assault.

They said officers intercepted him on Blackgate Road in Torquay and breath-tested him at about 4:20pm.

“The driver, a 37-year-old man from Hampton Park, allegedly returned a positive breath test and his vehicle was impounded,” police said.

“The Hampton Park man smashed the windows of his own vehicle during the incident.”

As my dad used to say, I’d hate to be dragged on my arse from Blackgate Road to Scorpio Court. Even if the accused were just hoofing it back to the Torquay town centre, they’ve taken a few block’s detour to wind up in Scorpio Street three hours later, where they simply happened to notice some political corflutes in a front garden, decided on the spot to destroy them and, then, for reasons entirely unconnected to politics, sent the homeowner to a hospital ward.

Coincidence, in other words, at industrial scale.

The earlier encounter, conveniently, is treated as the whole explanation. But drunkenness and political motive are not rival explanations – they are a matched set. Being drunk does not un-tear the signs, and being angry does not explain which signs one chooses to tear down. It is entirely possible to be a violent drunk and a political thug at the same time.

Victorian One Nation leader Warren Pickering said yesterday all people and parties contesting the approaching November 28 state election should engage in ‘peaceful debate’.

This is the left we’re dealing with here, remember. And the same legacy media who will, with a straight face, tell us that a burning city is ‘mostly peaceful’.

This is just the latest in an escalating series of attacks on One Nation volunteers and candidates, and it arrives in the same week as the AHRC urging the government to stop treating religious motivation as a central factor in radicalisation.

The fundraiser promoted through the party’s social media channels has passed a quarter of a million dollars. Australians have shown, once again, that they are more willing to help a bleeding volunteer with a brain injury than to require of their institutions that they say plainly what has happened to him.
