During the American election coverage, NZ journalist Patrick Gower veered off onto a Trump-positive riff and then surprisingly got cut off by a “glitch.” The immediate previous broadcast that Gower did (which contained no Trump-friendly sentiment) was flawless.


Samantha:

“Yes Paddy, we can see you this time. We just heard things are pretty quiet on the streets there in Delaware. What about Washington, D.C., how’s it looking where you are?”

Paddy Gower:

Yeah, well it is pretty quiet. It is quarter past two in the morning and we’ve got no result in this election.

But I can tell you this, they are lawyering up as everyone predicted. In fact there is a legal challenge already by the Republicans up in the state of Pennsylvania challenging the way that some of the mail-in ballots have been done. So expect to see a lot more of that in a lot more States.

The other thing that has happened here is Donald Trump has actually surpassed his vote total from the last election. 63 million Americans have voted for Donald Trump so far. That’s more than he got in total last time. Remember, we’ve got that bigger turnout this time. So Donald Trump has surpassed his vote total, 63 million Americans want him to be President in this down to the wire election.

Now, some credit needs to go to Donald Trump for the way that he campaigned himself into the ground in the last week or two. Five rallies a day around America. I went to one of them, and he spoke non-stop for two hours as he whizzed across Pennsylvania, which is now one of those….”
