Some of you may have been around long enough to remember the ongoing attacks on the blog Whaleoil by the far-left left-wing blog The Daily Blog. Posts were regularly written by Martyn Bradbury ( then know affectionately as Wrongly Wrongson) on Whaleoil accusing it of being paid to write posts and claiming that taking money for content was “Dirty.”

The fate of the coalition Government’s ill-thought-out effort to roll back the cultural changes of the Labour Government highlights the difficulties of acting without first securing the active support of both the state apparatus and the wielders of the society’s ‘soft power’.
