It should be no surprise that Sydney has earned the unenviable reputation of the epicentre of a dark wave of anti-Semitism – if not in the world, then absolutely in Australia. It’s in Sydney that attacks on Jews – graffiti, firebombings, assaults, even an attempted mass murder bombing – are occurring on a near-weekly basis. It was in Sydney that the world was first shocked by the sight of celebrating mobs on the night of October 7, 2023, followed by a mass desecration of the Sydney Opera House with chants of ‘Gas the Jews’.
Is it really a surprise?
After all, Sydney is not just the hub of Islam in Australia, it’s infested with left-wing politicians who desperately need the votes of anti-Semitic Muslims to stay in power. Not to mention their lefty pals, who aren’t even pretending not to hate Jews any more.
They don’t come much worse than the preening idiot Lord Mayor Clover Moore.
City of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore spurned a rare bipartisan and cross-faith mayoral roundtable of more than 20 other leaders uniting against anti-Semitism, pulling her deputy at the 11th hour because her host of demands were not met.
Despite Liberal, Labor and independent mayors joining on Thursday in an unanimous call for harmony, Ms Moore – whose council is the state’s richest and most influential – was a glaring omission from its signatories.
And just what did the painfully, disgustingly woke Moore demand?
She refused to sign up after other leaders rejected her last-minute demands that a draft statement – put together by five bipartisan and cross-faith mayors – only condemn anti-Semitism if Islamophobia was called out equally; omit mentions of hatred targeting other faith groups; and make clear there was only one “Sydney” mayor – herself.
This has been the standard, disgusting, gambit of Labor politicians. When they are forced, kicking and screaming, to acknowledge the deplorable anti-Semitism, they have to add, ‘…and Islamophobia’. Yet, it’s not mosques or Muslim homes that are being firebombed and defaced every week. It’s not Muslims who are being attacked in the street. Muslim children aren’t having to go to school under the watchful eye of armed guards.
The false equivalence is disgusting. It’s just another way of pandering to the Muslims who, despite their open hate of Jews, constantly whine that they’re the ‘real’ victims.
Even if we were gullible enough to buy the excuse that it’s to signal support for all groups, Moore’s demands make it revoltingly clear that there’s only one group she wants to kiss up to – and it’s certainly not Jewish Australians.
That passage read: “We unequivocally condemn the alarming rise in anti-Semitic attacks as well [as] acknowledge the broader escalation of racism and violence against racial and faith-based communities including Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists.”
It had been drafted by an elected Muslim leader and was agreed by multiple others of different faiths and political parties.
Ms Moore sought to omit “Christians, Hindus and Buddhists”, replacing it instead with a “stronger” condemnation of Islamophobia […]
A spokesman for Ms Moore rejected the lord mayor had sought to “co-host” the event but doubled down, saying the statement – undersigned by mayors representing more than 3.5 million residents – was “needlessly one-sided” and should have condemned anti-Semitism and Islamophobia equally, despite the slew of recent anti-Semitic attacks.
“Sydney is a multicultural and harmonious community.”
He actually said that with a straight face? Just days after news broke of an horrific planned bombing attack aimed at Sydney’s Jews with a caravan packed with enough explosives to level a 40m radius?
Are these people just terminally stupid, or is there another agenda?
