This Is the Left’s Poster Girl

Will Nike stick to its principles and drop Grace Tame as a ‘brand ambassador’?

Apparently it’s not rape if it’s a Jew. The Good Oil. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

One of the most foolish conceits of modern times is that suffering misfortune somehow makes someone an admirable person and an authority on any particular issue. Great Australian journalist Jack Marx used the case in point of the death of a Sydney teenager from a drug overdose: overnight, it would seem, her father was transformed into some kind of all-knowing expert on drug policy. Despite, as Marx pointed out, that his preferred ‘zero tolerance’ policy would have seen his own daughter, had she lived, jailed for possessing drugs.

Still, Tony Wood seems like a decent enough fellow. The same cannot be said for Grace Tame.

Despite her elevation to near-sainthood by the left-chattering class, by dint of having been molested by her schoolteacher, Tame does not come across as a particularly admirable person. Despite his having done nothing to harm her, quite the opposite in fact, Tame publicly treated former Prime Minister Scott Morrison with inexplicably unforgivable rudeness. Indeed, Tame’s public persona is one of apparently endless bile and nastiness.

And now, as if to complete the leftist set, she’s publicly promoting anti-Semites.

In the last week, Tame has posted a series of hostile remarks concerning both to her Instagram account, including a claim that supporters of Israel are participating in a “legitimisation of Jewish supremacist ethnonationalism”, which is demonstrably false. Roughly one in five Israelis is ethnically Arab and religiously Muslim. They occupy seats in parliament, in the judiciary, serve in the army, run hospitals … but, nevermind, yes, Jewish supremacy, as always.

Note, here, that Tame targets not Israelis, but Jews. So much for the ‘it’s not anti-Semitism, it’s criticism of Israel’ excuse.

Indeed the only excuse Tame might have is that she is probably incapable of stringing together such a ridiculous concatenation of leftist catchwords off her own bat. Instead, she’s quoting Muslim ‘scholar’ Ghassan Hage. Hage was sacked from Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology earlier this year, for praising the October 7 massacres.

He’s not the only Jew-hater Tame is all-too-ready to parrot. After the murder of two Jews in Washington last week, she was at it again, quoting the notoriously anti-Semitic Mohammed el-Kurd.

“The media class is scrambling to reframe the shooting that targeted two Israeli state officials as a random antisemitic attack,” Tame reposted to her 260,000 followers, “even though it was undeniably, and by the alleged shooter’s own admission, a response to the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, which killed ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN Palestinians in the last 24 hours ALONE.”

This is the same el-Kurd who repeats the anti-Jewish Blood Libel, accusing Israelis of eating the organs of Palestinians and having “unquenchable thirst for Palestinian blood”.

Such are the people Grace Tame follows on social media and repeats uncritically.

People like ‘academic’ Randa Abdel-Fattah, who openly celebrated the horrors of October 7 and teaches children to chant the Hamas genocidal war-cry.

Tame, paragon of humanism that she claims to be, never talks about the hostages, or Hamas, or displays even a fleeting interest in ongoing civil conflicts happening elsewhere in the region, like Sudan or Yemen.

Instead, she’s become obsessed with Israel, sitting on Instagram and promulgating claims of Jewish supremacy, or signal-boosting assholes who search for moral equivalency in the murder of a young Jewish couple out for the night at a Jewish museum […]

Who, as a professed feminist, has absolutely nothing to say about the genocidal Islamic autocracy in Gaza and its immiseration of women and gay people but who instead claims, stupendously, that the “feeble” ABC is serving the “military industrial complex” through its reporting of the conflict, as she wrote on Instagram recently.

Has Tame, whose only claim to fame is ‘rape survivor’, ever uttered a word of sympathy for the Jewish women raped and murdered on October 7?

Yet, she is being showered with money by sportswear company Nike.

Sportswear giant Nike announced earlier this year that it had signed Grace Tame as one of its brand ambassadors, a decision it must be regretting now given her increasing fondness for batshit public commentary about Jews and Israel […]

Nike once felt strongly enough about antisemitism and hate speech that it ended its relationship with former Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving. That was in 2022, after he tweeted a link to a film containing Holocaust denial and conspiracy theories about Jews.

Over to you, Nike.
