Apparently nobody ever explained to Charlotte Kirby of Cambridge what “unisex” means. The British event manager was, she says, shocked — shocked! — when she used a unisex change room in an outlet of fashion retailer Primark, and two men walked in.
The event manager, 25, took to her TikTok @charlottemkirby to share an emotional video to warn other customers and to explain what had happened, saying she will never try clothes on in store anymore […]
‘So I was just in Primark in Cambridge and I feel really stupid being emotional about this, but I was trying on some clothes, and it was a unisex changing room which I’m really for and I love that because it makes everyone feel included.”
So, she’s “really for” unisex change rooms, but not “really for” them being actually unisex. You know: “Designed for or suitable to both sexes,” as defined by the dictionary. Apparently, Charlotte has never read that dictionary.
“This never even crossed my mind when I went into a unisex changing room.”
Well, it crossed the minds of a great many of us that this sort of thing was exactly what was going to happen.
It should be noted, of course, that this wasn’t just a matter of walking into an open changing area. Primark’s “gender neutral” change rooms are rows of cubicles — with nothing but simple curtains for privacy. Still, what did the “rainbow” lobby think was going to happen? Exactly this…
‘But twice, two men opened the curtain and walked in on me. Luckily both times I was fully-clothed, but I could easily not have been.’
The TikToker explained how it was two ‘different people’ but that they were ‘clearly from the same group’.
That’s a rather odd choice of words. What does she mean, “clearly from the same group”? What group is so distinctive?
She continued: ‘There was probably 100 changing rooms available. So it wasn’t like, ‘Oo is someone in here or not?’
‘The first time was as they walked in they did it and the second time, was like one of them said to the other, “Have you tried it on, can I see?” and he opened it.’
Who is really surprised that this is happening? But, sure, remember when we were scolded that “gender neutral” changing rooms and bathrooms were never, not on your wildest dreams, ever going to be leveraged by perverts. Only a bigot would think that.
Except, the so-called “bigots” were right.
‘I just want to say to people please be careful, and if you go to the changing room try not go on your own, I will never be doing that again I would rather take it home, try it on and take it back to get refunded, so yea stay safe.’
Charlotte captioned the video, which has racked up over 1.5 million views: ‘Please be aware/spread the word and stay safe girls. Don’t go in changing rooms alone.

Even better: go back to gender-segregated change areas, “inclusion” be damned. Even if it upsets the cocks-in-frocks misogynists.
