As the saying goes, a ‘transgender’ child is like a vegan cat: you know who’s really making the decisions. Or, at least, causing them.
It’s not 100 per cent the case, but, in general, transgenderism can be broken down into a few categories. Adult male predatory fetishists, for instance, or confused teen lesbians. When the adult male ‘transitions’ abruptly in the wake of a criminal charge, you know they’re predatory fetishists. In the cases of ‘trans’ children, it almost always points to an issue with the opposite-sex parent.
In one particularly horrifying case, it’s both.
The father of an Oklahoma teen whose suicide made national headlines has been exposed as a registered sex offender who now identifies as transgender. In 2019, James Everette Hughes was convicted of raping his daughter, Dagny “Nex” Benedict, when she was nine years old, and sentenced to five years in prison. Hughes is now listed as “female” on the sex offender registry, and has changed his legal name to Chloe Elizabeth.
High school student Benedict was 16 years old when she took her own life last year. According to a coroner report, autopsy results determined her death was caused by an overdose of Prozac and Benadryl. The incident received national media attention as Benedict identified as non-binary, and had complained of ongoing bullying by her peers at Owasso High School.
All too often when it comes to ‘gender’ nonsense, uncovering the facts from the layers of legacy media and activist obfuscation is a Sisyphean task. Blowing away the fog of ‘preferred pronouns’ often takes some doing. In this awful case, we can say some facts with certainty.

The fight at school was not the result of any state law or politician’s rhetoric. Benedict had been the instigator of the fight, not a hapless victim. And the teen’s death was the result of suicide, not injuries from the bathroom fight.
This is diametrically opposite to everything the legacy media, activists and even then-President Biden claimed about the incident.
The ‘narrative’ was that Benedict had been relentlessly bullied by ‘bigot’ students, encouraged by “a coordinated attack by extremist politicians”.
The police interview recorded the day of the fight showed that Benedict admitted instigating the fight because she believed three girls were mocking the way Benedict laughed and dressed. Benedict also confessed to throwing one girl into a paper-towel dispenser.
Contrary to claims that the event was tied to ongoing bullying, Benedict told the officer she had never seen the other three students before, noting they were freshmen while she was a sophomore.
That’s all a towering castle of disgusting lies that do nothing but insult the dead victim: a victim, not of ‘transphobic’ bullying, but grotesque abuse by a predatory fetishist father.

However, most of these accounts did not acknowledge that Benedict’s history of childhood sexual abuse may also have played a role in her long-standing mental health struggles.
But an article by The Distance Magazine’s Matt Osborne has shed disturbing new light on the tragic story.
While it had been previously understood that Benedict was a victim of incestuous sexual abuse, Osborne has revealed that Benedict’s father now identifies as transgender himself.
Hughes was convicted in 2019 of repeatedly raping Benedict. For the horrific crime, he received a five-year prison sentence with a 10-year suspended sentence, as well as lifetime sex offender registration. According to Osborne, Hughes was arrested in January 2024 for failing to comply with his registration requirements. Benedict took her life 13 days later.
Like so many disgusting predators, as soon as he was caught, her father suddenly started playing the ‘trans’ card.
Osborne notes that upon his arrest, Hughes was already showing some signs that indicated he may have been transitioning. Compared to a booking photo from his first time in prison, Hughes had already begun to grow his hair out and had softened facial features which could have been the result of hormone replacement therapy.
An updated inmate photo taken at the Sebastian County Jail in May of 2025 shows Hughes, using the name “James Tsang,” with a freshly-shaved face, shoulder-length hair, and what appears to be some light makeup.
Hughes is currently listed as “Chloe Elizabeth Hughes” on the National Sex Offender Public Website and has been classified as a “female” sex offender by the state of California, where he currently resides in Los Angeles.
Because he knows that, in woke California, he’ll be sent to a women’s prison, which, purely coincidentally no doubt, not only makes it infinitely less likely he’ll be murdered by other inmates – even prisoners have a stronger moral compass than woke activists, apparently – but he’ll be set loose in a chicken-coop full of fresh potential victims.
