9th June 1993, Heidi Fleiss, is arrested in a sting operation run by the LA and Beverly Hills Police Departments, and the US Justice Department. She never did tell, much to the relief of many. 1959, The first ballistic missile-carrying submarine, the “USS George Washington” is launched.
1986, NASA publishes its report into the ‘Challenger ” accident. The Rogers Commission found systemic failures at NASA contributed to the disaster. Including violating its own safety rules. 1910, Charles Stewart Rolls, one of the founders of Rolls Royce, becomes the first person to fly both ways across the English Channel, Sadly he becomes even more famous when the next month he becomes Britain’s first aircraft casualty when his bi-plane breaks up mid-air.
1924, The US grants full citizenship to American Indians.
1868 Beginning of Tokowaru’s war
Ruahine warriors led by Riwha Tokowaru killed three settlers near Ketemarae, north of Hawera, provoking a resumption of fighting in south Taranaki.
1909 Public Trust Office building opens
Prime Minister Sir Joseph Ward opened the Public Trust Office Building in Lambton Quay, Wellington. The occasion was marked by a lunchtime banquet and a concert and dance later that evening
