11th June,    1979,  John Wayne dies, aged 72, after a battle with cancer. He was born Marion Morrison on May 26, 1907,

in Winterset, Iowa.

1986,  “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is released.  1967,  The Six-Day War ends, six days after it started. The war was a decisive victory for the Israelis, with the element of surprise and lethal air strikes they were able to decimate the Arab states air forces to gain the ultimate advantage.  1509,  Henry VIII marries his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.  1901,  Cornwall Park is gifted to the people of Auckland. John Logan Campbell, at a reception for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York hands over a deed to the land.
