2009: The “King of Pop” Michael Jackson dies aged 50, at his home in
Los Angles. A cardiac arrest caused by a fatal combination of drugs
given by his doctor is the cause. He had over 350 million record
sales, worldwide, 15 Grammy’s, and 13 US number one records,
“Thriller” is the best selling album of all time.
1876: Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse and their armies, wipe out
Lieutenant Colonel George Custer and much of his 7th Calvary at the
Battle of Little Big Horn.
1947: The first version of Anne Franks’ diary, “Het Achterhuis” is
published in The Netherlands.
1860: The first Maori King, Potatau Te Wherowhero dies, he had been
appointed in 1858. The Maori King movement came into existence in the
late 1850s in an attempt to unite the tribe
1894, Boer leader Paul Kruger meets the British High Commissioner,
Sir Henry Loch, to discuss the grievances of the Uitlanders,
(foreigners)
