Ray Harroun, driving a Marmon was declared the winner, in a time of 6 hours and 41 minutes, (this years time 2 hours and 50 minutes)1498 Christoper Columbus sets sail with 6 ships for his third trip to America. 1901 10 man Royal Commission unanimously reports that New Zealand should not become a state of the Commonwealth of Australia.
