Trump Acted to Fulfill a Long-Term Promise

Israel and the United States have acted to end this forever war, not ignite a new one.

Since 2016, President Trump has conducted somewhere in the vicinity of 900 political rallies, an astronomical number befitting the man’s colossal energy and courage.

At nearly all of them, he has consistently maintained that he will never let the Islamic Republic of Iran acquire nuclear weapons. This is simply because he knows that the regime will use them on Israel and the United States. At these same rallies, Trump has  consistently stated that he will not involve the US in new ‘forever wars’, the force of his focus being America First.

Since [Sunday’s] US strategic strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, some die-hard MAGA supporters are calling this a betrayal of his long-held promises. This is nonsense: it’s actually a fulfillment of them.

Trump has also said many times that for a country which sits on oceans and oceans of oil, why does Iran even claim to need a nuclear power programme?

Now, Dmitry Medvedev, Putin’s sidekick, is saying out loud on X that Iran’s uranium enrichment and “future production of nuclear weapons” will roll on with several countries “ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.” His full quote:

The enrichment of nuclear material – and, now we can say it outright, the future production of nuclear weapons – will continue.  A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads.

I know Medvedev is often deployed to say really stupid things that can’t be seen to come out of the mouth of Putin, but this is off-the-scale insanity. So bad it can only be Kremlin bluster. For those who view Russian leadership in any way as heroic, one only need to look at who they ally themselves to when the shit hits the fan, and that’s all you need to know to write them off as bad actors. Clearly Russia knew Iran was pursuing nukes – and was fine with it.

These statements from Medvedev come as the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, is about to have a sit-down in Moscow with Putin to discuss countermeasures.

The fact remains that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been at war through its proxies for 46 years, while severely oppressing and traumatising its own people, spawning a society resembling A Handmaid’s Tale, only it doesn’t have the benefit of being fiction.

Israel and the United States have acted to end this forever war, not ignite a new one.

If Iran escalates this further, after lying about their nuclear aims as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and I suspect they will escalate, it’s on them. The only decent thing for them to do now is to come to the negotiating table with the United States, but they won’t, since: a) they are nothing close to decent, and b) they’ve been justly humiliated.

I’ve said it before and will say it again: the barbaric rule of the Iranian mullahs needs to be overthrown by the Iranian people themselves – they are the ones who will have to put their own lives on the line. But now appears to be the time, since Israel, and now the United States, have gone a fair way to defanging the brutal regime in the name of their own separate interests.

The Left Has Left Its Roots Behind

This is to the detriment of politics in general, as every government needs an effective opposition, but I don’t see this happening in the foreseeable future without a change in direction.
