Don’t the normiecons ever get sick of acting like craven fools? After eight years of acting like fainting aunts over the antics of that dreadful orange man, you’d think they’d have learned. But, no, there they are, harrumphing into their brandy balloons in their little clubs and being wrong every single time.
The latest to beclown himself with his pearl clutching is the Australian’s Paul Kelly.
If Trump’s plan were merely to shock Europe into accepting its national responsibilities, increasing its defence budgets and accepting more of its security needs vis-a-vis the US, then such goals would make sense and be fully justified, within and outside Europe.
But Trump’s statements mock any claims this is the limit of his ambitions. His signals are unmistakeable – Trump likes Vladimir Putin as a fellow strongman and transactional rival while he loathes Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky, an elected democratic leader who stayed in Kyiv rather than abandon his country and heroically has led its defence […]
These claims are not just untrue and the numbers false. That’s being polite. They are lies and big lies. Most are straight Kremlin propaganda. But some of Trump’s claims are so fantastic not even the Kremlin has thought them up.
Kelly is projecting hard, here. What’s fantastic is the bullshit the MSM and the normiecons have been spinning for the past eight years. As I’ve repeatedly challenged social media users: show me the direct quote where Donald Trump says Ukraine started the war. Full transcript, no edits or journalistic paraphrasing.
They never can. Because this is the ‘very fine people’ lie for 2025.
As for Zelensky, he may have been ‘democratically elected’, but so was Mussolini. How’d that end?
Of course Kelly gibbers, b-b-but, Putin! “Trump brands Zelensky the dictator when Putin is the dictator of 25 years.” Nobody ever said he wasn’t. That doesn’t mean Zelensky isn’t a dictator, too. It’s not an either/or choice.
Since being elected, Zelensky has jailed opposition politicians, suspended elections (blah, blah, blah, war… spare me: Australia, New Zealand and the US all had regular elections during WWII), banned critical media, closed down churches and sent roving conscription squads to literally haul people from buses and homes and frogmarch them to die at the front.
If the jackboot fits, fella.
Hilariously, on the very day that the normiecons have their latest attack of the vapours, this news breaks:
Ukraine has agreed to a mineral rights deal with the US that President Trump said would be finalised on Friday in a White House signing ceremony with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Back in your boxes, normiecon fainting aunts. Looks like your favourite war is almost over and the Bad Orange Man was right again.
Trump, who is trying to negotiate an end to the war, has said the minerals deal would help compensate the US for its billions of dollars in aid helping Ukraine fight off Russia’s invasion.
“It’s a very big deal. It could be a trillion-dollar deal,” Trump told reporters Tuesday. “We’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars on Ukraine and Russia fighting a war that should have never ever happened.”
The feckless EU, who’ve done everything they can to goad and cajole and prolong the war as long as possible, are likewise making fools of themselves.
Officials across Europe expressed shock at some of the demands the US had made in the offer, including the right to up to $500bn in revenue from mineral development, which is far more than the US has contributed to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion began.
That’s because, firstly, it’s going to cost hundreds of billions to rebuild the country and maintain its security in the years to come. That doesn’t come cheap, and the US taxpayer is sick of carrying the can for mendicant Europe, which neglects its own defence and splurges the money on cradle-to-grave welfare states instead.
Secondly, Russia is not the existential threat to the world the chicken-hearted normiecons and greedy Masters of War insist. The real game in the new century is China. But America has been dreadfully weakened by decades of Forever War in Central Asia followed by the Biden administration recklessly throwing over $100 billion into a pointless proxy war with Russia.
The two countries will also reportedly create a “Reconstruction Investment Fund”, which will be “calculated according to the countries’ actual contributions to it”.
Ukraine media says the US “intends to make a financial commitment to Ukraine”, which will be determined separately but does not contain clear security guarantees […]
Trump wants Ukraine to give US companies access as compensation for the tens of billions of dollars of aid delivered under his predecessor Joe Biden.
Ukraine had sought security guarantees from the US in exchange for signing away precious rights to vast amounts of its natural resources and critical minerals […]
Trump told a gathering of US governors at the White House last week that Ukraine “don’t have any cards, but they play it tough”.
Well, that’s the art of the deal: everyone walks away convinced they’ve won something.
