Twenty Per Cent of the Party Vote

Not a wholesale shift to the left or right – but something more uniquely New Zealand. A hybrid that draws as much from the past as it does from present concerns.

This brings us back to Winston Peters.

At 20 per cent, he is no longer simply the kingmaker. He becomes the axis around which the government turns. Every major decision – economic, constitutional, social – would carry his imprint.

For some, that will be reassuring. For others, deeply unsettling.

But either way, it would mark a turning point in winning our country back.
