Vaccination Is Not and Will Never Be the Solution for NZ

There’s been much gnashing of teeth and nonsensical garbage bandied about, regarding what should happen to those amongst us who choose not to be vaccinated for Covid-19. Suggestions that they be ostracised or prevented from working are surely an extension of the ill-conceived panicked posturing and grandstanding we’ve seen almost daily since Covid-19 turned up on the planet.

Let me respectfully (or even not so much respectfully) suggest that nobody should give a toss about whether a fellow Kiwi chooses to be vaccinated or not.

The science strongly points to vaccination changing nothing for anybody other than one who chooses not to be made artificially immune. Vaccinated people have clearly tested positive for the Delta variant which, if you follow simple logic, means the virus can break through the vaccine in some cases and that vaccinated people can catch and transmit it. That’s what the science and current statistics from overseas are showing.

If you choose not to be vaccinated, you increase the chances that you may pick it up. That’s your right and of course your problem. While we’re all entitled to think you’re a bit silly if we want to, it really is none of anybody else’s business. It seems vaccination makes you no more or less of a risk to others, but it sure does seem to increase the odds of a lesser reaction if you do happen to get a breakthrough case.

I wanted to protect myself so after consulting with my GP, I chose to have the vaccine. I also choose to behave a little differently than I did before Covid. I keep well clear of anybody who is coughing and spluttering, and I also take extra care with personal hygiene and washing my hands. That is my choice for my own protection. If I feel at risk during an outbreak, I may choose not to go to the supermarket and spend more time at home. I think that’s sensible but I would never insist that you should compulsorily do the same.

We have had enough rights snatched off us by stealth. It’s time to call a stop to all of it.

Let’s get back to normal right now and those of us who are concerned for ourselves can stay the hell at home to our heart’s content.

Stop the totalitarianism. Stop encouraging dictatorship. Stand up for your rights.

While I’m willing to overlook the panic-driven responses of March last year, I am not willing to continue with this kneejerk nonsense that will result in huge numbers of Kiwis becoming beneficiaries and living their lives totally dependent on government handouts.

I will not support the concept that to protect a very small group (less than 1%) of people who may be at risk (myself included) and can take their own actions to protect themselves, the other 99% of hard-working New Zealanders should spend one more minute of their lives in lockdown.

It is barbaric, totalitarian and not more than millimetres from a police state.

Stand up for your freedoms and call enough to this nonsense.
