Vic Libs Cut Their Own Throats Again

Will Victoria, of all states, be the first in Australia to host a One Nation government? Despite the party’s surging popularity in polls in that state, it still seems highly unlikely, but more likely than the Victorian Liberals unseating the socialist Labor government, who’ve ruled Victoria all-but uninterrupted for the last quarter-century.

The Victorian Liberals are fast joining their cousins in South Australia and West Australia in being consigned to fringe party status. The Sandgroper Libs hold just seven seats in that state’s 59-seat parliament: just under 12 per cent. The Crow-eaters in blue-green ties have just five out of 47 seats: less than 11 per cent. One Nation have risen from nothing to three seats at last count, with the final seat in doubt likely to also be taken by ON.

In Victoria, the Liberals look in slightly better health, holding 29 out of 88 seats. But the trend is not good – they only gained one seat at the last election, even against the hopeless Jacinta Allan – and it’s only getting worse. Like every state and at a federal level, the Liberals seem hell-bent on committing slow political suicide-by-‘moderate’. Maybe the Liberals aren’t deliberately doing everything they can to alienate their entire voter base, but what would they be doing differently, if they were?

Case in point: the party’s shameful treatment of Moira Deeming.

Victorian Liberal MP Moira Deeming has lashed the party’s preselection process after losing her upper house spot ahead of the November election, declaring it was “not democracy”.

Indeed not: it’s the sort of disgusting ethnic branch-stacking that has been business-as-usual in the Labor party for years. Branch-stacking works by party backroom kingmakers signing up hundreds of new ‘members’, usually drawn from one insular migrant community. Most of the new ‘members’ never even see their own application forms, and all their membership fees are paid by the branch-stackers, who then weaponise their proxy army to flagrantly install whoever their chosen puppet might be.

In this case, in a blatant effort to chase the Indian migrant vote in Melbourne’s western suburbs, where the Indian diaspora population has swelled by 200 per cent since 2016. In that time, over 300,000 Indians have flooded into Melbourne’s outer suburbs. Singh has become the most common surname in Victorian births, deaths and marriages registers. Labor is already shamefully pandering enough to this tribal vote, proposing millions to build an ‘India Town’ in Melbourne, which led some wags to wonder if shitting in the streets will be part of the ‘cultural experience’.

The Libs are playing desperate catch-up on the ethnic vote-buying – and trying to oust one of their most popular conservative MPs.

Ms Deeming could defect to the crossbench as soon as this week after losing the preselection on Sunday, in an outcome that has been described by one prominent Liberal as a “travesty” and “gift to the Labor Party”.

In the latest development in the internal war that began with Ms Deeming’s defamation by former leader John Pesutto almost exactly three years ago, moderate-backed businessman and Indian community leader Dinesh Gourisetty beat the outspoken MP for the top spot on the Liberals’ Western Metropolitan ticket.

Conservative MP Renee Heath took to Facebook to describe the result as “devastating”, saying Ms Deeming “embodies courage and compassion – traits we need more of in politics, not less”.

In behaviour condemned by other Liberal members as “disgusting”, former Liberal Pride president Heath Wilson posted a report on Ms Deeming’s dumping on social media with the caption “The bitch lost!”

As well as pandering to ethnic votes, this is payback from the ‘moderates’ running the party into the ground. Deeming shot to prominence when she sued former leader John Pesutto for defamation, after the spineless lettuce leaf defamed her as a ‘neo-Nazi’ and ‘white supremacist’, simply for backing women’s rights ahead of predatory men in dresses. When Pesutto predictably lost the action, the party powerbrokers then had the gall to try to use party funds to bail him out.

An angry pro-Deeming party member described Mr Pesutto as a “piece of crap” as he left the building.

“I hope she runs for One Nation,” the man said of Ms Deeming.

Mr Gourisetty left the building via a back entrance, avoiding the media, and declined to comment following the vote.

And well he might. Because, sure enough, his sleazy past was fast catching up with him – and has blown the whole fiasco up in the Liberals’ faces.

The man who ousted Moira Deeming on Sunday has been forced to withdraw his candidacy, following revelations he provided a character reference for a now convicted child sex offender, throwing the Victorian Liberal party’s preselection process into turmoil, and possibly offering Ms Deeming a second chance.

Party administrators are locked in crisis talks as the Australian can reveal that Dinesh Gourisetty provided sworn evidence less than two years ago, attesting to the “good character” of Kashyap Patel who was a member of his Liberal faction and “good friend”.

Mr Gourisetty’s character reference for Mr Patel was tendered during the pedophile’s August 2024 County Court hearing on charges of grooming, sexually assaulting and transmitting indecent communication to a child under 16.

Patel was convicted, after he groomed the child online, not only sexually assaulting her in person, but trying to inveigle her into working for him as a child prostitute.

A short time later she reported the interactions to her father, who immediately contacted police.

This is the calibre of creepy ethnic vote-whisperers the Liberals will try and promote, over a conservative woman who stands up for women’s rights.

Deeming should quit the party once and for all and defect to One Nation. As for the Liberals: just stick a fork in their arses and turn them over. They’re done.
