The world right now is probably in its most dangerous state since WWII. The West is showing that there is a reluctance to accept reality. Allowing situations to develop as they are is inviting more trouble further down the track. Talkfests that fail to produce the action required are largely a waste of time. The policies introduced will not solve the problems we are currently facing.
In fact some of the policies are having quite the opposite effect and exacerbating certain situations. There appears to be a strategy that a softly, softly, approach is the correct one to follow. Very little is achieved by this method when evil sits on your doorstep, apart from giving succour to the perpetrators of that evil. What or who should we blame for this course of action?
There are people who are averse to taking direct action under any circumstances. Others are of the opinion that implementing policies that serve to support your enemy will produce desirable outcomes. Then there are those who believe dialogue is the answer. Most of these types of people support some form of appeasement. This is a naïve position which will be taken advantage of by the aggressors. They regard it as a means to buy time, re-arm or treat you with contempt.
This is the sort of behaviour the West has been engaging in and, so far, predictably, it has not produced the desired results. A couple of examples of naivety is support for a non-existent Palestinian state and Trump allowing himself to be led all over the place by Putin. Both these examples serve only to give your opponent a feeling of superiority. This, of course, is the exact opposite of what was intended.
Dialogue is obviously a good first option but it will become clear very early on whether it is a strategy that should be pursued. Trump has found out, to his great displeasure, that continuing dialogue with Putin ended up with Putin ‘having him on’. The Russian president has no intention of ending the war because he doesn’t want to.
It’s a similar situation with trying to appease Hamas and the other terrorist groups. They’re not interested in a Palestinian state any more than they’re interested in the Palestinian people. They exist for one reason only: not to create a state but to annihilate a state, namely the state of Israel. All this talk by Western leaders of being kind to Palestinians must have Hamas and Co laughing their heads off.
This naivety from the West has to stop. Where is it emanating from? The answer is pretty obvious: it’s coming largely from today’s political leadership, who tend to inhabit the left side of the political spectrum. They believe that dialogue and appeasement will win out. There are countless examples in today’s conflicts to show that is not the case. The reality is they’re playing into the hands of the enemy.
There is a certain mentality on the left, I’ll call it a ‘do-gooder’ mentality, which, while being well meaning, is sadly not applicable to certain situations in today’s world. It is this mentality that is fuelling the problem of illegal migration. The thought processes, whereby ‘these poor people have to live somewhere’, is very well intentioned but hopelessly misguided. Many of these people are arriving in countries with evil intentions. They are not escaping from trouble: rather they are arriving to cause it.
The United Kingdom is a prize example. Illegal migration is causing havoc and threatening to destroy the country. London has a Muslim mayor who has priorities that are not in the best interests of the city. He denies that problems, such as grooming gangs who are terrorising young girls, exist. He swats the rise in shoplifting away by saying there are too many shops. He would like to ban Christmas.
Migrants are arriving in droves. The pitiful apology for a so-called government, headed by the weak and woke Keir Starmer, either has no idea how to stop the boats or, equally, doesn’t want to. It’s difficult to work out which it is – probably both. The same thing happened in America under Biden. Migrants were welcomed in their millions with open arms. In comes Trump and virtually overnight it stopped and, so far, 250,000 have been deported whence they came. It can be done.
The time for talking is over in regard to Putin and the Middle East terrorists.
These types will carry on their merry way unless stopped. Only direct action will achieve that. NATO has to carry out the mission to save Ukraine, and Israel must be given the green light to eliminate Hamas and their fellow travellers. Deadlines should be issued for the requirements to end the aggressions, and if these are not met then direct action will follow. Get the jobs over and done with and make the world a better place.
