So, Joe Biden has come out from his Camp David hidey-hole and faced the press over the shocking events in Afghanistan. As America faces up to its second catastrophic defeat in a generation, even the sycophantic American mainstream media are growing hostile with Biden.
But Biden refused to accept responsibility for America’s humiliation. He steadfastly defended his actions.
But let’s compare Joe Biden on August 16 with Joe Biden on July 8, just one month ago.
Joe Biden, July 8:
“You have the Afghan troops at 300,000 well-equipped – as well-equipped as any army in the world – and an airforce against something like 75,000 Taliban. It is not inevitable.”
Later in the press conference, a reporter pointed out to Mr. Biden that his own Intelligence Community [had] assessed that the “Afghan government will likely collapse.”
“That is not true,” responded Biden in an agitated manner.

US President Joe Biden says he stands squarely behind his decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, after the Taliban seized power in just over a week[…]
He said the collapse of the Afghan armed forces was a sign that the withdrawal was the right decision.
“The truth is, this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated,” Mr Biden said.

We provided our Afghan partners with all the tools — let me emphasize: all the tools, training, and equipment of any modern military. We provided advanced weaponry. And we’re going to continue to provide funding and equipment. And we’ll ensure they have the capacity to maintain their air force[…]
I trust the capacity of the Afghan military, who is better trained, better equipped, and more re- — more competent in terms of conducting war[…]
The Afghan government leadership[…]clearly have the capacity to sustain the government in place.
