The federal immigration law enforcement stormtroopers shot another individual on January 27, but maybe you didn’t hear about this one. The incident failed to draw international headlines, and it’s not hard to figure out why the folks protesting against ICE in Minnesota and their allies in dominant media and Democrat political circles remained quiet. The man involved is an accused human smuggler who fired on federal agents first. And the last thing the “resistance” needs right now is to draw attention to this signature murderous facet of the illegal immigration pipeline into America.
“An Arizona man has been charged with Assault on a Federal Officer after he shot at a US Customs and Border Protection helicopter that was assisting in his apprehension,” a January 28 Justice Department news release read. “According to the criminal complaint, filed in federal District Court on Jan 27, US Border Patrol agents were involved in a reactive human trafficking pursuit in rural southern Arizona, near Arivaca, when the suspect allegedly opened fire on the helicopter, manned by a US Customs and Border Protection agent.”
A CBP agent on the ground fired back and shot the man. Patrick Gary Schlegel, 34, “was taken into custody, treated for his wounds and transported to a local hospital,” DOJ states. “Through the cooperative efforts of federal and local law enforcement, it was determined that Schlegel was also wanted on a federal warrant for escape from custody, was convicted of multiple felonies – including alien smuggling – and has an order of protection against him in Pima County.”
Plenty of Good and Pretti But No Carmona
All the AI photo touch-ups in the world aren’t going to make a martyr out of someone like this. And so, although the arrest did receive a certain amount of media attention, America was not introduced to Patrick Gary Schlegel like it was to Minneapolis agitators Renee Good and Alex Pretti. As Liberty Nation News has stressed, what goes unreported is more important than what the 24-hour news cycle obsesses over. And when it comes to illegal immigration, what the rigged algorithm labeled “news” doesn’t want Americans to know is that street theater protesters raging against ICE are actively defending an ongoing criminal construct that has caused the deaths of untold thousands of illegal aliens over the years.
News item: “A San Antonio woman was sentenced in a federal court in Del Rio on [Jan 29] to 132 months in prison and ordered to pay a money judgment of $955,350 for conspiracy to transport illegal aliens resulting in death,” a Jan 30 news release by the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas states.
Funny how this wasn’t picked up by CNN or the New York Times.
“According to court documents, Erica Aracely Carmona, 36, was a member of an Alien Smuggling Organization that smuggled illegal aliens to San Antonio from the area around Eagle Pass. Carmona’s role included coordinating smuggling operations with co-conspirators in Mexico and directing other members of the conspiracy in regard to payments and driver coordination,” the statement reads.
Some of the human cargo gets damaged along the way.
“On May 25, 2021, a driver with the ASO transported a trailer containing illegal aliens from a residence in Eagle Pass to San Antonio. When the trailer arrived, one of the aliens was near death, and died about one hour later,” the report continues.
The body was tossed away like trash: “Co-conspirators dumped the deceased illegal alien into a ditch within a few miles of a… property belonging to Carmona that was being used as a drop-off location.” Where is the televised professional ‘racial justice’ outrage over this?
“Alien smuggling organizations and Mexican cartels will always value profit over human lives, and illegal aliens are routinely placed in extremely dangerous situations during their journey, often resulting in death,” US Attorney for the Western District of Texas Justin R Simmons said in a statement following Carmona’s sentencing. “In San Antonio, we’ve seen firsthand how dangerous it can be to transport humans in trailers of any kind, especially tractor trailers.”
“Simmons was referencing the San Antonio case that occurred June 27, 2022, when a tractor-trailer with more than 60 migrants was abandoned on a desolate road in Southwest San Antonio,” the San Antonio Express-News notes. “With no air conditioning or ventilation in the trailer, 53 of the migrants died from heat-related injuries and asphyxiation.”
Protesters: Focus on ICE, not the Victimized Children
In December, a woman was sentenced to 21 months in prison for her participation in a human smuggling operation that led to the drowning deaths of four illegal aliens, two of whom were children, off the coast of San Diego last May.
“The mass-casualty accident involved a boat loaded with 19 people that left Mexico on May 4, then capsized off the coast of Del Mar the following day,” KNSD-TV, the local NBC affiliate in San Diego, reports. Guess network didn’t feel that was worth picking up. Melissa Cota’s sentencing was universally ignored by the big-box press.
Here’s a mental image they don’t want Americans to dwell on as they hype up deceptive narratives of ICE supposedly arresting five-year-olds. “Emergency crews responding to the incident found the bodies of 18-year-old Marcos Lozada-Juarez, 55-year-old Gorgonio Placido-Diaz and 14-year-old Prince Patel. Prince’s 10-year-old sister, Mahi, also died, but her remains were not discovered until a few weeks later,” the station relates.
A 10-year-old child’s lifeless body was fished out of the ocean, and no paid protesters were there to decry her utterly avoidable death.
Instead, the federal agents who could have saved that little girl are demonized as black-hatted villains while the radicals actively abetting a system that treats human beings as faceless cattle herded into a lethal mass migration machine crown themselves the beneficent ones. So what else is new? Every blood-soaked leftist social revolution in the history of Western Civilization plays out the same way.
