During the Cold War America defined standards of ‘rationality’ and then concluded the Soviets would not use nuclear weapons because rational leaders would not do it; otherwise they would be irrational.
Using this standard of rationality gives us an idea of why the leaders of western governments are calling Putin crazy. According to them, he’s irrational, a nuclear threat, and the world must do everything it can to destroy him.
Instead of calming the situation in eastern Europe, the American neo-cons, the ones in charge of foreign policy, the ones who said America must run the world and create a new, worldwide American reality, are now warning India’s Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping there will be ‘consequences’ if they don’t condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
They are talking about sanctioning China! Is this rational thinking?
Putin has threatened to cut off Russian gas if Europe rejects paying for it in roubles. So far he hasn’t done that but the energy bills fall due at the end of May and it will be interesting to see who blinks first. Without Russian gas, the European economy will die. America doesn’t care. It will arrange Saudi oil for Europe and charge what it wants. Everything it does is in its own interests, not in the interests of the world. It takes the resources of other countries to keep its own standard of living high.
If you don’t do what ít wants you to do, it will destroy you. That is American democracy.
America purports itself to be a freedom-loving country but there are surveillance cameras everywhere. Government agents listen in on telephone calls and read emails. Political correctness has become a guiding principle of modern society. The jails are full. Homeless people are everywhere, living in tent cities. Drugs are traded openly on the streets and crime rates are off the charts. And this is what is called the Free World? What on earth are they free from?
This has come about with little more than a whimper from a populace which consists largely of television and internet zombies. We have been warned about such an ominous future in novels and movies for years. Now we can see it happening. The pandemic made prisoners of entire western populations, and this freedom we are all too scared to lose is actually long gone.
We are left with the illusion because we see no bars on the windows.
China is a nuclear power. Russia is a nuclear power. They both want to exist in a multipolar world. America is a nuclear power and wants to be the leader of a unipolar world. It also wants to create a new reality for the inhabitants of Planet Earth. What does this ‘American Reality’ mean but the destruction of all that Russia and China hold dear?
India, Brazil and South Africa also wish to be free of the American hegemon. They want their own countries and their own cultures, not an American Woke Globalist Disney World. What America is offering is as unacceptable to them as it should be unacceptable to us and to every right-thinking human being. Nobody elected America as ‘Leader of the World’, and if American aggression isn’t curtailed, if some diplomatic agreement to peace is not reached, if rationality doesn’t prevail, this situation will have only one end.
