If you’ve ever talked to the parents of “gender-confused” children, their stories are heartbreaking. Seemingly overnight, their son or daughter — increasingly, it’s almost always a daughter — goes from a normal kid to a gender-confused, manipulative cry-bully.
No one, from therapists to police, is willing to help them. In fact, they get blamed.
My patients, and those in the parent-run groups, are shocked, overwhelmed, confused, and anxious. They’re not sleeping or eating. Many have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Why have they turned to one another for help? Why don’t more come to us – psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors? We’re the ones with the degrees and experience.
They don’t turn to us because we have failed them.
The recurring story from all these parents is that, if they don’t immediately fall in love with their child’s hysterical demands, the entire board is stacked against them. Schools go behind their backs to “affirm” the child’s “new identity”. Government agencies like Medicare issue ID in the child’s “new identity” without question and without informing their parents.
Hospitals and clinics threaten to take their children away.
Tranny activists bully their way into their homes and actually take their children away. Increasingly, police and courts are doing the same. Police refuse to prosecute the trannies — almost always older men — who literally force their way into peoples’ homes and take their children.
Therapists and counsellors are almost always the front for this axis of evil.
For those therapists, the parents are the problem. Not the child’s social anxiety, autism, irrational thinking, or social media addiction. No, the issue is mom and dad’s refusal to embrace their teen’s two-week-old identity and allow a kid to run the show.
The therapist shares that assessment with parents, sometimes in front of their child. In doing so, the gender specialist strikes heavy blows against a family in crisis, who turned to her with hope and trust: she undermines parental authority and weakens the parent-child bond.
The next thing they know — if they’re ever told, that is — parents have to sit helplessly by while their children are referred to an endocrinologist or a “gender reassignment surgeon”, to have their precious young bodies drugged and mutilated. If, by a strange miracle, the endocrinologist doesn’t prescribe “puberty blockers”, there’s an entire network of activists, operating openly and without reprisal on social media, who boast that they can and will hand out puberty-blocking drugs without question.
The parents go home, emotions reeling. Some decide to trust the expert and they’re soon at the endocrinologist’s office, signing consent for drugs that will prevent their teen’s physical, emotional, sexual, and cognitive development. Their child looks happy; they pray it lasts.
Others dive into the research. Sooner or later they are startled to learn the truth: If teens go through natural puberty there’s a 60-90 percent chance of desistance (outgrowing transgenderism, aligning with one’s biology). Changing names, pronouns, and presentation can be a slippery slope and decrease desistance. Once on puberty blockers, desistance is very rare.
Blockers are controversial, have a history of lawsuits, and their off-label use in healthy children is experimental. There is a risk of suicide in gender-questioning teens, but there is no evidence that transition lowers that risk.
Surely, parents can turn to therapists who aren’t completely submissive to this lunatic ideology?
A therapist who won’t immediately affirm the new identity, but instead take it slowly, get to know their child, and figure out the appeal to her of a new identity. A clinician with a more cautious, nuanced approach — that’s all parents want. Another shock: there are almost none.
Out of more than a million therapists in the US, there is just one group that advocates long-term, exploratory talk therapy for gender-questioning youth. There are just 60 members, many outside the United States. Which is no surprise: any therapist who dares to deviate from or to challenge the narrative is ostracised, bullied and often subjected to death threats from activists.
Unlike the activists who openly prey on children, their parents have to go underground.
They fear losing their jobs and relationships, even their child, if exposed. Hence the secret meetings, private Facebook pages, made-up names, and extensive vetting. They hide in the dark as if they’re guilty of some awful crime.
There seems little doubt that, sometime in the near future, the “gender” craze will be viewed with the same horror and disgust as the frontal lobotomy craze.
Right now in the United States, girls as young as 13 are having mastectomies and minor boys are castrated. What will it take to put the breaks on the massive transing of children? Call me a cynic, but I’m guessing a few huge lawsuits.
Trust me, the lawyers are coming, and victims will finally have a public platform.
The Federalist
But will the activists, therapists, surgeons, and politicians who enabled this horror ever be held meaningfully to account? Or will they just slither into the shadows and resume their careers as if nothing ever happened?
