I don’t think that Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s communications studies degree included any American history papers. If she understood how the First Amendment and the Second Amendment are crucially linked to each other, she would not be so confused.
If New Zealand had a constitution like the United States, Ardern would not be able to “regulate” our free speech or to start disarming the population as she has already started doing.
Because of the Constitution of America, President Trump is doing the complete opposite of what Ardern is doing, because the Constitution protects both the free speech of the American people and their right to bear arms. It prevents an American president from acting the way Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is acting. It simply doesn’t allow it to happen. You can’t make captain’s calls regarding free speech or disarming the population in America.
In a nutshell, the Second Amendment protects the First Amendment.
The Second Amendment’s purpose was a safeguard against tyranny.
For example, if the free speech of the American people is ever threatened by a political party in power over them, their ability to rise up and use force to remove a corrupt or totalitarian leader from power is guaranteed by their right to bear arms.
If America is attacked by another country the American people (not only the American military) will have the ability to defend themselves and to form militias.

2nd Amendment
A disarmed population is one that cannot fight back against a corrupt regime or an attack from another state or country, so the second amendment ensures that, should democracy fail, the American people will always have the ability to remove a corrupt administration from power or to defend themselves from an external attack.
The first amendment which the second amendment protects is one that I envy. Our free speech is under serious threat here in New Zealand and we don’t have a constitution to protect it from Prime Ministers like Jacinda Ardern.
