Welcome to the Ten@10, where I collate and summarise ten news items you generally won't see in the mainstream media.

This is normally now only for members in the VIP tier (old Silver and above), now that our membership transfer is completed. If you think you should be getting this with your membership then don't hesitate to sing out.

I hope you continue to enjoy this weekday newsletter and if you aren't currently on the VIP plan please consider upgrading.

  • 🏫 Drumm estimates a new state school for 600 students would cost $250 million, or $416,666 per student.
  • 📚 The proposed Charter schools, if awarded, could cost under $9 million for 1,160 students, or $7,758 per student.
  • 💰 Ongoing interest costs over 5 years: MAGS $1.5 million per annum ($2,500 per student), State School $12.5 million per annum ($20,833 per student), Education 710+ $450,000 per annum ($387 per student).
  • 💼 Charter Schools could save taxpayers $32,623,000 compared to MAGS and $307,613,000 compared to new State schools in establishment and first 5 years.
  • 🎓 Charter schools aim to operate at similar per-student costs as State schools of similar size and demographics, with performance targets.
