This is edition 2025/180 of the Ten@10 newsletter.
Hi all,
This is the Ten@10, where I collate and summarise ten news items you generally won't see in the mainstream media.
Enjoy!

1. The media missionaries destroying NZ journalism
Ani O'Brien
- 📰 Media Bias: New Zealand media consistently protect the political Left, ignoring incidents involving racial discrimination, political intimidation, incitement to violence, and unsafe internal culture.
- 🚫 Double Standards: If similar actions were committed by the Right, the media would cover it extensively. But when the Left is involved, it’s largely ignored or downplayed.
- 🏛️ Missionary Journalism: Journalists have become activists, shaping narratives to guide public opinion rather than providing neutral coverage, ignoring inconvenient facts that may challenge their worldview.
- 🤔 Public Mistrust: People are increasingly distrustful of media, recognizing the bias and selective reporting, especially when it benefits the Left.
- 🔒 Echo Chamber: The New Zealand media ecosystem is insular, with reporters, editors, and activists reinforcing the same narrative, leading to ideological groupthink.
- ⚖️ Consequences for Democracy: Media bias undermines democracy, leading to complacency on the Left, resentment on the Right, and a lack of trust in the media overall.
- 📉 Call for Reform: The solution is independent, unbiased journalism that holds both sides to account, providing uncomfortable truths without fear or favour.
