10 News Stories They Chose Not to Tell You

This is edition 2026/142 of the Ten@10 newsletter.

Hi all,

This is the Ten@10, where I collate and summarise ten news items you generally won't see in the mainstream media.

Enjoy!

1. Inconsistent With Our Values?

Chris Trotter

  • 🧠 Clinical psychologist Dr Arna Mitchell (Māori) answered Wero’s “psychology is systemically racist” brief for NZCCP — peer-reviewed article became the journal’s most-read; NZCCP pulled it as “inconsistent with its values.”
  • 📜 Not plagiarism, not error — ideology. Abstract alone survives: Wero claims unsubstantiated; reforms driven by selective opinion outside the scientist-practitioner model.
  • 🤝 Mitchell’s heresy: common humanity of Māori and Pākehā above sociocultural difference. If cognition isn’t shared, build bespoke psychologies — and fund them yourselves under Article II logic.
  • 🎭 Governing body still pushes a formal apology for “systemic racism,” text withheld from members until delivery day. Decolonisation fifth column in the professional nests.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: asserting Article Three equality is now suppressible. Originally The Good Oil, 3 July.

2. Luxon & Co: Why Do They Look Like a Cargo Cult?

Grant Duncan — Politics Happens

  • 📉 CPI 4.1% to June; unemployment 4%→5.6%; GDP +0.8%. Surplus 26/27 and debt cuts missed. Advance voting 26 Oct — too late for recovery to register. Liam Dann: already too late to save the government.
  • 🍳 Rotorua: Short asks how long SMEs hang on with rising costs/fewer customers; Luxon lectures “retool and radically disrupt,” “parent-child mentality,” Claude Code show-of-hands — later apology.
  • ✈️ John Key cargo cult: Second Coming of Key would restore the mojo; Prebble “stuffed,” Hooton “out of his depth” still hold.
  • 🗳️ Recovery 2027 will be businesses, workers, oil prices and Tehran/Washington — Beehive will claim credit either way. Labour eager to resume patronising too.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: cargo-cult politics optional. Join or don’t.

3. The Limits Una Jagose KC Cannot Name

A Halfling’s View (David Harvey)

  • ⚖️ Ex-SG Jagose warns of “sleepwalking” toward collapse of separation of powers — actually defends judicial encroachment against Hodder, Watts (Ellis), Partridge remedies.
  • 📜 Ellis: no Māori party, Court self-instigated tikanga into any common-law/statute question, discarded Loasby — “cloud over entire case law and statute book.” Continuity with 1901 PC is bait-and-switch.
  • 🗳️ Jagose: can Parliament define the Treaty “without Māori”? Māori already in Parliament as electors/MPs. Extra-parliamentary veto = unelected judges or corporate iwi above the House — one person one vote abandoned by podium assertion.
  • 📊 Her own Helen Clark survey: only 43% trust fair courts (31% struggling, 35% under-30). Urgency is ballot-box fixable; judicial revolution isn’t. Trotter: courts lose any real struggle with Parliament.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: correction is Parliament’s, calmly and soon — or forced later.

4. The Electricity System — Energy Realism Versus Policy Greenwash

John Raine

  • ⚡ Cheap high-density energy = prosperity. EROI ladder: nuclear/hydro ~40–80; coal/gas 10–30; wind 5–15; solar PV 3–10 — often below viable ~8 once backup counted.
  • 🔋 Wind/solar fail continuity; mass batteries uneconomic (Li density <2% of gas; 10–15yr life); high share needs ~40% coal/gas backup or Spain-style instability.
  • 🌏 Aus/Germany/UK de-industrialising on low-EROI “renewables” while Aus ships coal to China for EVs sold back — green hypocrisy. ETS still taxing NZ industry for virtue.
  • 🗳️ Greens/Labour: subsidised rooftop solar+batteries (~3× farm cost). Nat: end oil/gas ban + double “renewables.” NZ First oil/gas exploration sound. Path: limited new solar/wind; more hydro/geo; gas bridge; nuclear medium-long term.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: reject virtue-signal energy policy that wrecks the economy and moves no dial on climate.

5. Journalists Are Still Defending Fauci Because They Spent Years Dehumanizing Covid Dissidents Based On His Lies

Alex Gutentag — Public

  • 📰 Dana Bash to RFK Jr: “I wasn’t part of the problem” / “best science.” Diary: Bash texts Fauci that Jordan can “go f--- yourself”; shares VF “trips over his own asshole” headline; Tapper dinners; Cuomo “adult in the room.”
  • 🔄 Now: “Fauci had no authority.” Then: pressure to give him unlimited power vs elected Trump. Privately knew vax didn’t stop infection/transmission and natural immunity worked — still chased mandates.
  • 🏫 NYT/WaPo school-closure gospel while Europe reopened safely; “pandemic of the unvaccinated”; Lemon “shun them”; Macron “not a citizen”; WaPo “make life a living hell for anti-vaxxers.”
  • 📉 CNN lost 40% audience; media trust 28%. Bhattacharya (once blacklisted) now NIH: end GoF, new playbook, vaccine-injury centre. Trump 2024 traces to Covid fallout.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: they can’t criticize Fauci without admitting they dehumanised people on falsehoods. Permanent stain.

6. What Else Are They Hiding?

Jeffrey Tucker — The Epoch Times

  • 📂 Rand Paul dump: thousands of pages from Fauci-era NIH. Diary/autobio draft ~1,100 dense pages (~2,400 book). Gates special clearances; book cleared via Morens (charged with document destruction).
  • 🔇 Senate: 111× Fifth Amendment despite full pardon back to 2014 — only perjury risk left. Tucker spent days reading; 30 pages of notes.
  • 🏚️ 2020 foreign regime overnight: home, masks, closed churches, censored GBD authors, debanked dissidents. Trust collapsed for a reason — conspiracy theories met evidence.
  • 🏛️ Media, academia, medicine, government hit hard. Catharsis not joy. Bhattacharya now runs NIH rebuilding. Question remains: what else, and for how long?
  • 🎯 Takeaway: men and women of courage released the files. Redemption possible — patient for the whole truth.

7. How ‘Progressive’ Empathy Fuelled the Ceuta Crisis

James Dixon — spiked

  • 💔 Tens of thousands into Ceuta: easy to feel for locals and desperate crossers. Empathy now domineering — question high immigration = lack empathy = evil.
  • 🧠 Aristotle: virtues as a web; phronesis balances them. Empathy alone can’t weigh obligations, long-term costs, or tomorrow’s greater suffering. Sentimentality ≠ kindness.
  • 🇪🇺 Policies from impulse encourage deadly routes, overwhelm institutions, erode trust. Small continent can’t house the world. Sánchez: troops + Morocco returns — most already back.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: less empathy as sole light; more judgement, prudence, courage. Crisis will repeat until the West stops.

8. 53 Gaza Health-Sector Workers Identified as Hamas and PIJ Terrorists

Jewish Onliner

  • 🏥 Salo Aizenberg thread: 53 health workers (23 Hamas, 29 PIJ, 1 unnamed) via martyr notices vs hospital records — 40 commanders/deputies.
  • 🩺 Drs El-Gamal (held 3 hostages at home) and Kardi (Shifa; Oct 7; held Romi Gonen + Noa Marciano’s body; Gonen accused sexual assault). MSF physio Al-Wadia later confirmed PIJ military manufacturing commander.
  • 🩸 At least 3 Oct 7 attackers in scrubs (ER nurse Mushtaha, nurse Al-Namnam, nurse Salman/hostages). Five Nasser Hospital nurses as commanders — hostages testified held there.
  • 📋 Full 53 listed with roles. MSF updated memorial after PIJ claim; ICN tribute to Hamas platoon-commander nursing leader still up; Healthcare Workers Watch silent on revisions.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: “health worker” shield collapses under the groups’ own notices.

9. The Ceuta Chaos Could Make Marine Le Pen President

Gavin Mortimer — The Spectator Australia

  • 🇪🇺 22 of 27 EU states (Italy/Denmark lead) demand deter illegal migration, harden borders, kill pull factors — cite Spain’s mass regularisation. Holdouts: France, Lux, Portugal, Spain, Ireland.
  • 🇫🇷 Macron + Sánchez: only pair against return hubs; Sánchez NYT “West Needs Migrants” op-ed; now brands Italy/Denmark “selfish.” Meloni riding Ceuta into 2027 early election chatter.
  • 🗳️ Le Pen: strengthen borders now; 2027 end Schengen free movement for non-EU nationals — online poll 98% support. Philippe’s tweet met her record as PM: +30% residence / +60% refugee permits vs Hollande.
  • 🔪 Paris stabbing “Allah sent me” + Ceuta images; France destination of choice for Moroccans (621k legal + huge illegal stock).
  • 🎯 Takeaway: if Le Pen wins, centre-left Socialists only have themselves to blame.

10. Europe Should Not Learn the Wrong Lessons from Ceuta

Rafael Bardají — The Spectator Australia

  • ⚔️ Two crises, not one: (1) Morocco’s migration-as-coercion (Green March 1975, 2021 Ghali episode, now 60k+ into city of 80k while Rabat watches — most returned = limited leverage op); (2) Spain/EU internal immigration ideology.
  • 🎯 First lesson: migration is statecraft — Russia/Belarus/Morocco deploy civilians, not troops. Treat it as such.
  • 🇪🇺 Second: openness as virtue, borders as rights obstacles, legal/illegal blurred. Frontex kit without shared will to use it. Spain regularisations reshape electorate; Schengen makes Madrid’s border Europe’s.
  • 🏛 Civilisation can be multiracial with shared civic culture; not parallel communities forever. Democracy needs a defined demos. Centre-right owns cheap-labour complicity too.
  • 🎯 Takeaway: Ceuta warned about willingness to defend political foundations of freedom — history punishes failure to name the challenge.
