It’s okay. It’s nothing to be too concerned about, that is, for those of us with the inside knowledge that 1News weekend international politics stories are written by their cadet internship of 12-year-olds from local intermediate schools while the grown-up reporters take a break to relax and interview their navels.

Otherwise utterly ridiculous headlines like this could be seen as an indication of a ‘news’ outlet on its very last, ignorant, anti-intellectual and lie-telling legs:

That such a blatantly stupid propaganda statement emanates from a taxpayer-owned outlet many ‘trust’ as a news source is no surprise at all for those of us who suspect that the 1News editorial stance is that any position more centrist than Lenin is regarded as ‘extreme’.

Having never heard of de Gaulle, the most revered French politician of the last 100 years (he’s not on TikTok), our juvenile ‘correspondents’ know nothing of the man or his politics and his determined ‘centric’ position – neither left, nor right, but pragmatist, practical and pro-France or ‘Gaullist’ – nor his sober observation:

You can see that they are not French. Try and integrate oil and vinegar. Shake the bottle. After a moment they separate again. The Arabs are Arabs, the French are French. Do you think that the French can absorb 10 million Muslims who will tomorrow be 20 million and after tomorrow 40? If we carry out integration, if all the Berbers and Arabs of Algeria were regarded as French, how would one stop them coming to settle on the mainland where the standard of living is so much higher? My village would no longer be called Colombey-les-deux-Eglises [the two Churches], but Colombey-the-two-Mosques.

That 1News is so lazy, so ignorant and so tribal as to prefer to align Ms Le Pen’s views not with a founder of the modern republic, but with a racist, genocidal, regime of occupation, speaks volumes. In attempting to slander, defame and disgrace, they simply debase themselves.

They are as shameless as useless. And a bit thick to boot.
