A Couple of Dog Acts

Cruelty to dogs is one of the last big social taboos.

‘Let that be a lesson to you... bitch.’ The Good Oil. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

In Hal Herzog’s Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat, he shows that humans find it hard to think rationally about animals. The plight of an abused human may tweak our consciences, but an abused animal sends even the most committed humanist into rage. We may eat chickens and pigs, but the sight of Chinese butchering dogs makes many Westerners sick to their stomachs.

The following two stories will undoubtedly – and rightly – make readers incandescent with fury.

Firstly, what appears to be a case of Coulter’s Law.

A beloved Rottweiler has been put down after she was brutally attacked by a group of teenagers while waiting for her owner outside a shopping centre.

Nine-year-old Sasha was attacked in the 15 minutes that she was left alone outside Marketown Shopping Centre on Steel Street, Newcastle, about 12.15pm on Friday.

The defenceless Rottweiler was almost kicked to death by the teenagers and was found badly injured when her devastated owner returned.

She was rushed to the vet but had to be euthanised due to her extensive injuries.

NSW Police are still appealing for public assistance in identifying the teenagers behind the attack on Sasha.

Very well – so, why no description of the ‘teenagers’? Why no images from the CCTV footage that the story says officers have reviewed?

Both of those would kind of seem to be a biggie, when you’re begging the public to help identify the thugs.

Coulter’s Law, which properly applies to mass shootings, can be paraphrased to apply to the entire legacy media: ‘the longer it takes the news media to identify a suspect, the less likely it is they are white’.

I stand to be completely wrong on this, of course. But if I was a betting man, I’d lay good money that they’re hiding something here.

Because, as I say, nothing quite sparks righteous fury than cruelty to a dog. A far-left ‘influencer’ can spout all the racist hate he can imagine and mock the murder of Charlie Kirk and get away with it.

But if he mistreats his dog in full view? He’s toast.

A popular Twitch streamer has ignited backlash after a clip of his dog appeared to cry out in pain during a livestream went viral causing many to accuse him of using a shock collar.

Hasan Piker was broadcasting at home earlier this week with his dog Kaya lying in the background.

During the stream, Kaya seemed to grow restless and proceeded to get up from where she was sitting […]

Piker then appeared to reach for something off camera, which in turned caused the dog to make a noise before going back to where she initially was.

‘Make a noise’? The dog audibly yelped in pain and jumped. Watch the video and judge for yourselves. In a previous stream, a guest complained that the dog’s collar was too tight, as she wasn’t able to get her fingers under it. A clip has also surfaced where he admits to owning a shock collar.

Piker, a popular left-wing political commentator, started streaming on Twitch in 2018.

In 2021, he was banned from the platform for one week for using a racial slur against white people.

More recently, in February 2025, he was banned from Twitch for 24 hours after he said Republicans would ‘kill’ Florida Sen Rick Scott if they truly cared about government fraud.

He was banned again in May 2025, after claiming the DC terror attack looked like a ‘false flag’ operation.

He’s also the nephew of Armenian genocide-denying, leftist blowhard Cenk Uygur. Some mothers do ’ave ’em.

Speaking of mothers, in such a shocking (no pun intended) story, there’s still some inadvertent comedy gold:

Explaining the situation during the stream, he [said] of the dog: ‘She is literally just so incredibly spoiled from my mom.’

A 34-year-old wealthy leftist streamer still living with his mummy?
Some jokes just write themselves.
