Mr Maximo Alvarez Addresses the RNC
This current Republican National Convention has served up some absolute delights in the form of meaningful speeches from a broad range of President Trump’s supporters.
It’s instructive to hear how some of the Democrat commentators reactively respond to these speeches – they use the word “dystopian” quite a lot, as if the violent riots, looting and smashing up of businesses on the streets of Democrat strong-hold cities, like Portland and Seattle (remember CHOP?), is not showing us just how truly dystopian America will become if Democrats run the whole nation.
Floridian resident, Mr Maximo Alvarez, delivered a heartfelt speech yesterday, the core point of which was the magnitude of his family’s escape from communist Cuba. I’ve heard many children of Cuban immigrants talk about their parents’ sagas to get to America for the purpose of raising their children in the Free World but to hear a first-generation immigrant describe his own first-hand experience of what America meant to him personally was powerful.
When it comes to the promises of the Democrats in this election, Mr Alvarez spoke about “seeing people like this before, seeing movements like this before, seeing ideas like this before.” He stated:
“I’m here to tell you, we cannot let them take over our country. I heard the promises of Fidel Castro and I can never forget all those who grew up around me who looked like me, who suffered and starved and died because they believed those empty promises. They swallowed the communist poison pill.”
Mr Alvarez was just 13 when he came with his parents to America courtesy of Operation Pedro Pan, an early 1960s Catholic mission to transplant Cuban children onto American soil in order to rescue them from the devastating Marxist regime of the Castros.
Becoming a successful businessman, Mr Alvarez founded and still presides over Sunshine Gasoline Distributors, INC, a company he is immensely proud of and one that has allowed him and his family to live the American Dream.
In yesterday’s speech, Mr Alvarez warned Americans regarding the false promises of the Democrats:
“Spread the wealth, free education, free healthcare, defund the police, trust a socialist state more than your own family and your community; they don’t sound radical to my ears, they sound familiar. When Fidel Castro was asked if he was a communist he said he was a Roman Catholic. He knew he had to hide the truth. But the country I was born in is gone, totally destroyed.”
Like many people who have made it to freedom after escaping totalitarian regimes, Mr Alvarez becomes very emotional when describing his patriotic feelings toward the nation which he feels gave him so much:
“If I gave away everything that I have today, it would not equal 1% of what I was given when I came to this great country of ours, the gift of freedom.”
Mr Alvarez gave a timely reminder that President Trump is fighting the forces of “anarchy and communism,” and that his opponents, Joe Biden and the whole D.C swamp, would hand the country over to “those dangerous forces.”
Trying to hold back his tears, Mr Alvarez declared that for him the choice is easy, “I choose President Trump because I choose America. I choose freedom – and I still hear my Dad, ‘there is no other place to go!’”
Bravo to Mr Alvarez for so clearly spelling out why this election matters so much – not only for Americans but also for the rest of us who rely on the profound example of an America that remains strong and free.
