My eyes were assailed last night on the telescreen by various ‘celebrities’ and well-knowns pitching a “Love Letter” to NZ small businesses under duress during our COVID crisis, each sloganising a little message, including Stuart Nash who assures us that small business “is the backbone of the country” and vox ultima ‘Big Sister’ ‘Blunder Woman’ Jacinda Ardern who assures us, “We will come out of this stronger”.
It made me think of some other slogans, can’t imagine why, can’t quite put my finger on it:
‘Electioneering will be put on hold during the lockdown’
‘This is a Party political broadcast’
‘We are your single source of truth’
‘Ignorance is strength’
‘Freedom is lockdown’
‘Everything was for the Party’…
The man behind it is marketing bloke Patrick MacFie, and again; I don’t know why, but I was led to harmlessly wonder: is he pitching for this gig?
What strange times befall us, very strange.
