ABC’s Fake News Attack on SA Refugees

Lying by omission about the persecution of white farmers.

This isn’t happening, swears the ABC. The Good Oil. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

Australia’s [taxpayer-funded far-left propaganda behemoth] ‘national broadcaster’ is at it again. For all their pious wittering about ‘misinformation and disinformation’, they’re one of the most grotesquely repeat offenders. Fake News, after all, is rarely outright falsehoods: the most common kind of Fake News is misleading content, especially misleading by omission.

Consider the mainstream media’s ‘very fine people’ hoax. The MSM claimed that President Donald Trump called white supremacists ‘very fine people’. The only way they got away with the lie was by omitting his prefacing comment: I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. Some media, like Mother Jones, are still refusing to concede that they lied by omission.

The ABC has been lying with impunity for years. Even where other MSM have shamefacedly admitted the lies, the ABC just carries on: its four-part hit piece peddling the long-debunked ‘Russian collusion’ hoax has never been retracted, for instance.

Once again, the ABC is lying through its teeth by omission.

The first 49 white South Africans granted refugee status for being deemed victims of racial discrimination under an offer by US President Donald Trump have been flown to the US.

Under Mr Trump, Washington has blocked mostly non-white refugee admissions from the rest of the world but is prioritising Afrikaners, the descendants of mostly Dutch settlers.

The most obvious thing here is the blatant race baiting. There’s also the absolute lie of “block[ing] mostly non-white refugee admissions”. In fact, refugee admissions to the US plummeted in the years prior to the Trump administration, reaching a nadir during the Obama presidency. In 2025, the US aims to resettle 125,000 refugees, which is on par with the peaks seen in the presidencies of Clinton and Biden. The top countries of origin are projected to be Syria, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Myanmar, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

So, the ABC is simply lying.

The race baiting is as bad as the lies.

Treating white South Africans as refugees fleeing oppression has drawn a mixture of alarm and ridicule by South African authorities, who say the Trump administration has waded into a domestic issue it does not understand.

South African media have also shown little sympathy for the asylum seekers, with many keeping them off front pages and calling them “refugees” in quotation marks.

The ABC is, of course, taking the word of the openly racist South African government. This is the same government which chants ‘Kill the Boer’ at its rallies, with the same fervour the Nazis used to sing the “Horst Wessel Lied”.

So, excuse me if I treat its protestations with contempt.

President Cyril Ramaphosa claimed the white South Africans had left because they were opposed to policies aimed at addressing racial inequality persisting since apartheid.

Sure: it couldn’t be anything to do with all the murders. An average of 50 white South African farmers are murdered in targeted attacks every year. There are up to 500 or more attacks per year (the ABC lies about this repeatedly, too). Which is probably an under-estimation: the problem is so bad that the South African government simply stopped collecting statistics in 2007.

What is beyond doubt is that white farmers, who often live on large properties far from their neighbours or the nearest town, are seen by some as easy targets. The number of killings is worrying. Last year, there were more than 300 farm attacks and 50 murders. A particularly horrific incident in Mpumalanga, in the east of the country, happened in July: 79-year-old farmer Theo Bekker was bludgeoned over the head with an iron bar. His throat was slit and he bled to death. Bekker’s wife, Marlinda, was tied up and had a bag pulled over her head. Even when victims survive – as Marlinda did – the level of violence in these attacks can be ferocious. Torture and rape are common. Afrikaans Bibles have been left open on dismembered bodies.

Forget that, though: the ABC is apparently more concerned that the ANC hasn’t stolen enough white-owned land.

White people still own three-quarters of private land and have about 20 times the wealth of the Black majority, international journal the Review of Political Economy revealed.

OK, so what is the ABC’s problem? Do they think land should have been simply appropriated from white farmers, as it was in Zimbabwe? How did that work out, again?

It’s funny how the ABC is all-too-ready ready to trumpet the most absurd claims of ‘genocide’ by Hamas and its supporters… supporters like the deeply anti-Semitic ANC government of South Africa.
