Progress on the new site [The Good Oil] is nearing completion on our new platform. There are, however, some things that need to be attended to by YOU. I can’t do them because they relate to your own information. It is planned at this stage to start the new site on Monday.
Therefore time is of the essence for you to update your information, BEFORE we import member data. That may happen any night between today and the weekend.
The new system will require you to log in with the email you currently use to log in to The BFD.
BUT… some of you have fake emails, and the new system will send you an email the first time you log in that you will need to click on to access the new site. We know you have fake emails because every day when emails are sent they bounce back
Can you see the problem? Because I can. The new system will have your membership details, the same as here, but we don’t. And we don’t have your passwords, and if you have a fake email address, then you won’t get the email message you’ll need to log in.
To be clear, we are talking about your membership credentials here, not Disqus. The Disqus commenting system will (fingers crossed) be seamlessly ported across.
Now you might think, ‘Nah, I’ll do it later and if I get stuck I can always email Cam’… and that would just make you annoying in the extreme. Things are pretty frantic around here as we recover from the sudden departure of Juana. So that sort of thinking would be pretty horrible for us.
