We all know that a defining quality of politicians is having more front than Myers, but Labor’s Tony Burke is in a deplorable class of his own when it comes to absolute bloody bare-faced hypocrisy. Burke, whose entire career hangs on the whims of Muslims in Western Sydney, has left no Islamic arse un-brown-nosed. Most recently, he astonished even veteran politics watchers with his mass citizenship rallies, swearing in thousands of Western Sydney migrants as new voters, just weeks out from an election campaign.
Now, he’s shot out of the gate with even more blatant pandering that has been exposed for what it is no sooner had the words left his mouth.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke says Australian Muslims received blame and suspicion from some quarters of society for anti-Semitic attacks – some of which the Australian Federal Police said were directed by a criminal “mastermind” for “personal benefit”.
Five minutes later…
A former high-ranking bikie boss was the alleged mysterious “James Bond” who directed criminals for hire to firebomb a Bondi brewery they appeared to mistake for a Jewish kosher deli.
After they realised they hit the wrong target, police allege, former Nomad leader Sayed Moosawi – known to his alleged guns-for-hire as “James Bond” – allegedly took matters into his own hands and destroyed the deli himself.
So, an Australian Muslim was (allegedly) behind it all.
What do you say, now, Burke?
Even when he was mouthing off, Burke didn’t have the courage of his convictions.
Mr Burke said that he was not naming anyone who specifically blamed or raised suspicion of Australian Muslims.
Except…
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has accused Peter Dutton of making public comments “exactly what organised crime wanted the narrative to be” in relation to the Dural caravan plot that Australian Federal Police on Monday said was a “fabricated terror plot”.
Again, Burke is licking his own arse with a forked tongue. What ‘narrative’ is he claiming? That Australian Jews ought to live in fear of attacks from Australian Muslims? That was the whole point of the caravan plot: to instil fear. Which is the literal point of all terrorism. Fear, for Australian Jews, which is well-founded. Or is Burke forgetting the months of firebombings, the weekly rallies celebrating Hamas and Hezbollah, or the thousands of Muslims who stormed the Sydney Opera House, chanting, ‘Gas the Jews’? Does he want to pretend that Jews haven’t been attacked on university campuses, or that Jewish schools and places of worship have to be protected by armed guards?
As NSW Premier Chris Minns points out, just because the caravan packed with explosives didn’t go off, doesn’t mean that the message was unclear.
The charging of a former high-ranking Nomads leader adds a further layer of intrigue to the polices’ sweep of raids and ongoing investigations, particularly as the alleged “puppetmaster” is a “known organised crime figure”, believed to be offshore. He is neither arrested or charged, although the AFP have an “operational strategy” in place to target the individual.
The alleged mastermind “pulled the strings” on the spate of Sydney’s anti-Semitic attacks from “afar”, understood to be while based on foreign soil, and had sought to leverage information about an abandoned explosives-laden caravan with police to secure leniency in a separate criminal case.
Hands up who’ll be surprised who overseas this ‘puppetmaster’ is linked to?
“The terror and fear that was struck by these individuals was real”.
“It still happened, and it was appalling for the community, particularly the Jewish community in NSW,” he said.
Asked whether it was correct to describe the Dural incident as a potential mass casualty event at the time, Mr Minns defended his decision to “jump to the worst-case scenario”.
It was packed with explosives, for Pete’s sake. What would have happened if it had been detonated in a suburban area? Of course it was a potential mass casualty event.
The lengths the Albanese government and the mainstream media will go to, to deny exactly what’s in front of all our eyes, is as disgusting as it is predictable.
