As President Donald Trump’s approval ratings rise to their highest-ever, Democrats are, by contrast, sinking to their lowest ever. In both NBC and CNN polls, the Democrats are scraping the bottom of record lows.
Even a lot of Democrats don’t like the Democrats these days – just 63 per cent of Dems reported having a favorable view of the party, down 18 points from 81 per cent four years ago, during the start of the Biden administration, according to CNN.
The Dems can’t catch a break. Forcing a government shutdown would surely send their stocks even lower, as if that was even possible. The 2013 shutdown saw Congress’ approval ratings sink to a 40-year low. Yet, the remaining Democrat supporters, drawn from the fringe left, are furious that Chuck Schumer backed down from attempting to force another shutdown.
Schumer, however – along with nine other Democrats – declined to block the GOP bill, saying they believed that allowing the government to shut down would be a loser for the party.
Progressive activists erupted in outrage, and groups such as Indivisible promptly called on Senate Dems to oust the New Yorker from his longtime post.
To damn him with faint praise, Schumer is at least savvy enough to realise that a government shutdown right now would not help the Dems at all. If anything, it would play right into the hands of the Trump administration as it seeks to prise the dead hands of government from America’s throat.
“It would be a disaster,” Schumer had warned about a partial shutdown. “And we have to alert everyone how much pain it would cause the American people.”

A group of Minnesota lawyers schemed to shield their illegal alien clients from Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, according to a series of leaked emails obtained by Fox News Digital.
The emails were sent on February 6 to the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ member email list, a member of the group told the news outlet.
“Emails suggest that the sole reason for converting hearings into virtual appearances is to evade ICE enforcement.”
This is likely a violation of federal law, and comes shortly after it was mooted that Democrat senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may face criminal charges over similar activity.

Legal expert Jonathan Turley told Fox News Digital that the “emails suggest that the sole reason for converting hearings into virtual appearances is to evade ICE enforcement.” He predicted the correspondence would “raise a serious legal question over the proper use of court resources and orders.”
“There is a legitimate debate over whether ICE should target those seeking judicial review in their cases,” Turley continued. “Few immigrants will want to risk a hearing if they will be detained as a cost of appearing. However, if ICE has a right to access, the use of virtual hearings to prevent federal authorities could cross the Rubicon for some judges as an improper use of federal authority to deter federal enforcement.”
None of the attorneys quoted from the email string responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
This is also hot on the heels of a district judge’s astonishing demand that a plane full of violent criminal gang members, none of whom were American citizens, be turned back from international waters en route to El Salvador and returned to America.
The Democrats are taking the side of criminal illegal immigrants and violent gang members over the American people. And they wonder why their approval rating is in the toilet.
