Spectacular scenes have emerged of residents being evacuated from Taradale’s Rowan Enliven – Disability, all of them loaded on the back of a tow truck.
Residents in Taradale and Omahu in Hawkes Bay were told to evacuate at about 10am on Tuesday morning, as heavy rain moved in and caused significant flooding.
And incredible footage captured by Newshub shows the moment residents were driven through town and taken to the safer, drier ground in what appears to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience
