But one of the most iconic moments, that will always be remembered, was a bloody moment from one afternoon in 1985.
It was when Bob Jones helped remove Rob Muldoon by setting up the New Zealand Party to contest the ’84 election, and Vaughan helicoptered in to ask him some questions.
“Rod was best known as an investigative terrier and his output for TVNZ and TV Three was prodigious,” a Seven Sharp looking back at the moment said.
“He was one of the old school, from the golden age of long form journalism. But it’s for one exhilarating and painful moment that he will always be remembered.”
