Tim Southee is adamant he can rediscover his best form as he relinquishes the Black Caps test captaincy and Tom Latham takes charge.
The veteran seamer stood down from the leadership role in the wake of last month’s series defeat in Sri Lanka, with the opening batter taking over for the three-match series in India that starts in two weeks.
Southee has been down on form in 2024, taking just eight wickets in the six tests New Zealand have played this year, including one in each of the two tests in Galle.
Earlier this year, he had one of the worst home summers by a Kiwi seam bowler in the history of the game, with fellow new-ball bowler Matt Henry outperforming him by a long way – taking 23 wickets in four tests to Southee’s six.
